Job description

At a glance
Company: Helander Metal Spinning Company
Location: Addison, IL 60101 (1393 W. Jeffrey Dr., on-site)
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: $48โ€“$60/hr (based on experience)
Shift: Day Shift
Experience: Senior (5+ years)
Work Authorization: ITAR environment (U.S. person required)

Why this job is worth considering

Helander Metal Spinning Company is looking for a Senior Quality Inspector / CMM Programmer to lead CMM inspection on its aerospace and high-performance component work. This is a working-lead role: you'll program and operate CMM equipment on Polyworks for first-article and complex-part inspection, coordinate the inspection cell's daily priorities, and still spend real time on the floor doing hands-on dimensional inspection. It isn't a desk-only programming job. If you're a metrology professional who reads GD&T at an advanced level, wants ownership of inspection strategy from first article through final release, and wants day-to-day influence over how the inspection cell runs without taking on formal supervisory responsibility, this role is built for that.

What you'll be doing

  • Program and operate CMM equipment (Polyworks) for complex, first-article, and routine inspections
  • Develop and validate inspection routines from drawings, CAD models, and GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
  • Perform AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI) and document results
  • Coordinate inspection-cell workflow and daily priorities as a working lead
  • Perform hands-on dimensional inspection using calipers, micrometers, and indicators
  • Document nonconformances and support root-cause and corrective action within an AS9100D quality system

Equipment and software

You'll work with:

  • CMM (coordinate measuring machine) โ€” core daily equipment
  • Polyworks โ€” used for CMM programming and inspection-routine development
  • Hand inspection tools โ€” calipers, micrometers, and indicators

What we're looking for

Required:

  • 5+ years of precision dimensional inspection experience in machining or aerospace
  • Demonstrated CMM programming and operation (Polyworks or equivalent)
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
  • AS9102 First Article Inspection experience

Preferred:

  • Polyworks programming certification
  • Aerospace, AS9100, or NADCAP experience
  • Root-cause analysis (8D) experience

Pay, benefits and schedule

Pay: $48โ€“$60/hr, commensurate with demonstrated CMM programming capability and inspection experience. Final level and pay are based on demonstrated competency, not tenure.

Schedule: Day shift, on-site.

Benefits: 401(k) with a 100%-vested 4% match after 30 days, employer-paid health insurance (70โ€“80% of premium), complimentary life, vision, and dental insurance, 9 paid holidays, 15 vacation days, 3 personal/sick days, and tuition reimbursement.
