Job Summary

The Injection Molding Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring injection molding machines to produce high-quality molded components according to production schedules and quality standards. This role includes setting up equipment, inspecting products, and ensuring compliance with customer requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Operate injection molding machines in accordance with established procedures and work instructions.
  • Perform mold changes and basic machine setups under guidance of technical staff.
  • Record production data such as quantities, downtime, and scrap.
  • Identify and communicate equipment malfunctions or process deviations to supervisors or maintenance teams.
  • Responsible for packaging finished goods.
  • Accurately mix materials and read and interpret blueprints and diagrams to select, position, and secure machinery.
  • Adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion.
  • Set machine controls regulating molding temperature, volume of plastic, molding pressure and time, according to knowledge of plastics and molding procedures.
  • Conduct first article inspections against the work order for accuracy and adjust as necessary.
  • Maintain the flow and quality of parts produced.
  • Clean and maintain molding machines and equipment for optimal operation, following all safety protocols.
  • Responsible for proper removal and handling of parts.
  • Install molds onto machines according to work order specifications, using clamps, bolts, and hand tools.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, following 5S and safety guidelines.
  • Follow all safety protocols and report safety hazards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Required Experience & Competencies

  • 1+ years of experience in operating injection molding machines.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Advanced decoupling skills.
  • Knowledge of basic manufacturing safety and quality control principles.
  • Ability to operate and adjust basic machine controls.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Basic math skills for measurements and production calculations.
  • Profax and P5M6K material knowledge preferred.
  • Good understanding of basic control functions and mechanical ability.
