Description
We're looking for an experienced Plant Engineering Technician to support the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of our manufacturing operations.
Summary
Applies technical expertise to assist production, maintenance and engineering with continuous improvements, troubleshooting, repairs, installation, root cause analysis and project implementation. The skill level for this position requires an individual to work independently on complicated equipment and systems with minimal instruction and direction.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions
  • Implements and executes maintenance repairs, continuous improvements and project work.
  • Provide electrical, mechanical and technical support to ensure safe and effective production
  • Troubleshoot, repairs and replaces machinery and equipment based on work request or verbal instructions.
  • Assists with troubleshooting and root cause analysis. Perform duties of Maintenance Technicians.
  • Diagnoses cause of equipment failure and makes repairs to all equipment plant wide. This includes, but is not limited to, blanchers; rinsers; fillers; briners; cappers; pasteurizers; labelers; tamper banders; case packers; case erectors; wrappers (shrink & stretch); palletizers; de-palletizers; vibrators; cutter/slicers; graders; conveyors; stenciling/coding equipment; flow meters; pumps; soap & oil lubricators; dock doors and levelers.
  • Replaces Motors, Pumps, Drives, PLC's, Instrumentation, Valves, Electrical switches, Wiring and conduit, Starter contacts (heaters), and other components
  • Using Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), receive work orders, identify faulty equipment, and acquire parts and equipment to complete repairs.
  • Generates, modifies and interprets programs to support engineering and maintenance initiatives and projects.
  • Develops and generates proper documentation for all facets of work duties.
  • Assists with various engineering and maintenance projects as requested.
  • Maintains appropriate computerized and paper files on pertinent information
  • Maintains communication between Maintenance, Engineering and other departments
  • Maintain area of operation in a safe and sanitary manner. Determines that established safety rules, Company policy and good housekeeping are followed
  • Uses knowledge of equipment capability, application techniques, and design limitations in performing job tasks

Other Duties
  • Operates own or company vehicle in performance of some job tasks.
  • Participates in training, employee meetings, committees, project teams, etc. as needed
  • Receives written and verbal instructions on the above job tasks and performs other duties as directed by Supervisor.

Requirements
  • Technical Associates degree or equivalent training or work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in high volume process based manufacturing.
  • Strong working knowledge of PLC's, drives, controls, industrial instrumentation, HMI/OIT's, vision systems, schematics, P&ID's, robotic systems, and industrial sensors and machines.
  • Industrial electrical and equipment background needed.
  • Have a fundamental understanding of software, programming principles and concepts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with strong team working ability required.
  • Valid driver's license needed.
  • Ability to speak, read and write in English required.

Personal computer, PLC's, drives, PID/setpoint controls, industrial instrumentation, HMI/OIT's, vision systems, industrial sensors, copier, FAX, telephone, two-way radio.
Physical Demands
Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary locomotion.
Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow slippery or erratically moving surfaces. 'This factor is important if the amount and kind of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium.
Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerate degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.

Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
Crawling: Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.
Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady forces in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward.
Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion.
Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a high position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.
Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discriminations in sound.
Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/ or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and\or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Repetitive Motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform and activity such as: preparing and analyzing data figures: transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.

Office conditions for most work; plant and outdoor conditions as determined by task underway.
