Day Shift Fish Farm information

What is a day shift fish farm worker?

Day Shift Fish Farm workers are responsible for maintaining and overseeing the daily operations of fish farms during daytime hours. Their duties often include feeding fish, monitoring water quality, cleaning tanks or ponds, checking for signs of disease, and assisting with harvesting. They play a crucial role in ensuring the health and growth of fish stocks and maintaining the equipment used in aquaculture operations. Day shifts typically offer more regular working hours compared to night shifts, making them appealing to many workers. This role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and a basic understanding of aquatic life.

What are some common challenges faced by workers on a day shift at a fish farm, and how can they be addressed?

Working a day shift at a fish farm often involves tasks such as feeding fish, monitoring water quality, and maintaining equipment. Common challenges include adapting to outdoor work in varying weather conditions, managing time efficiently to complete daily routines, and ensuring the health and safety of the fish stock. These challenges can be addressed by wearing appropriate protective gear, following established protocols, and staying up-to-date with best practices for aquaculture. Teamwork and clear communication with supervisors and colleagues also play a key role in overcoming daily obstacles and ensuring smooth operations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a day shift fish farm worker, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Day Shift Fish Farm Worker, you need basic knowledge of aquaculture practices, fish biology, and physical fitness, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with water quality testing equipment, feeding systems, and possibly certification in aquaculture or safe food handling is beneficial. Attention to detail, reliability, and teamwork are important soft skills for maintaining healthy stock and smooth operations. These skills ensure the well-being of the fish, compliance with regulations, and efficient farm productivity.

Job description

Description:

English/Spanish | Carlton Farms | Carlton, Oregon

Build Relationships. Grow a Territory. Build a Life in Oregon Wine Country.

What if your next sales opportunity offered more than just a job?

A career with a family-owned Oregon company. Products you're proud to represent. Customers you can build real relationships with. An opportunity to make an impact. And when the workday is over?

Wine country. Great food. Hunting. Fishing. Hiking. Biking. Small-town charm. Beautiful countryside. Outdoor adventure. And everything the Pacific Northwest has to offer.

Welcome to Carlton Farms.

For generations, Carlton Farms has built its reputation around quality, craftsmanship, relationships and doing things the right way.

We're looking for an energetic, relationship-driven Bilingual Sales Representative who is fluent in English and Spanish and ready to help us grow. THIS ISN'T JUST AN ORDER-TAKING JOB. We're looking for someone who enjoys selling.

Someone who likes meeting people, developing relationships, discovering opportunities, solving problems and asking for the business.

Someone who gets satisfaction from turning a prospect into a customer—and a customer into a long-term relationship.

You'll have an established Carlton Farms brand behind you, experienced people around you, and quality products you can be proud to represent.

What you do with that opportunity is where you come in.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

You'll build and grow relationships with both English- and Spanish-speaking customers while actively pursuing new opportunities for Carlton Farms.

You'll:

  • Build strong, lasting relationships with existing customers.
  • Prospect for new customers and identify opportunities to grow the business.
  • Make proactive sales calls and connect personally with customers in the market.
  • Learn our products and become a trusted resource to the customers you serve.
  • Understand customer needs and recommend products and solutions that make sense for their businesses.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing accounts and introduce additional Carlton Farms products.
  • Sell the Carlton Farms difference—quality, craftsmanship, service, reliability and relationships—not simply price.
  • Follow up consistently and do what you say you're going to do.
  • Partner with Sales leadership on customer strategy, pricing and growth opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate customer and sales information.
  • Take ownership of your goals, commitments and results.
WHO WILL THRIVE HERE?

We're looking for more than a resume.

We're looking for the right person.

You may be a great fit if you:

  • Are fluent in English and Spanish, verbally and in writing.
  • Have experience in sales, account management, business development or another customer-facing role.
  • Naturally build relationships and enjoy meeting new people.
  • Aren't afraid to pick up the phone, approach a prospective customer or ask for the business.
  • Enjoy getting out into the market and spending time with customers.
  • Are competitive and motivated by achieving goals.
  • Take pride in following through on your commitments.
  • Are curious, coachable and interested in becoming an even better salesperson.
  • Can work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
  • Appreciate great food, craftsmanship, agriculture, hospitality or the people and businesses behind them.

Experience in foodservice, meat, grocery, restaurants, distribution, agriculture, manufacturing or another B2B sales environment is a plus.

But if you're a great salesperson who can build relationships, create opportunities and learn—we want to hear from you.

Requirements:

WHY CARLTON FARMS?

Because where you work matters.

Carlton Farms is an Oregon company with deep roots, a proud history and a commitment to quality and craftsmanship.

We're proud of what we make.

We're proud of the relationships we've built.

And we're looking for people who want to help us build what's next.

You'll have the opportunity to represent an established brand while contributing directly to the continued growth of the business.

AND THEN THERE'S LIFE IN CARLTON...

Your career is only part of your life. Where you get to live it matters, too.

Carlton sits in the heart of Oregon's beautiful Willamette Valley wine country, surrounded by rolling countryside, farmland, vineyards, forests and some of the natural beauty that makes the Pacific Northwest such an incredible place to call home.

It's the kind of place where small-town community meets great food, wine, outdoor adventure and room to breathe.

IF THE OUTDOORS ARE YOUR PLAYGROUND, YOU'LL FIT RIGHT IN.

When the workweek ends, Oregon gives you plenty of ways to get outside.

Hunt. Fish. Hike. Bike. Camp. Explore.

Spend a day on the water, head for the woods, find a hiking or biking trail, explore Oregon's forests and rivers, or pack up the family and turn the weekend into your next Pacific Northwest adventure.

And if your idea of a great weekend is a little less rugged, you're living in the heart of Oregon wine country—with locally owned restaurants, tasting rooms, beautiful countryside and communities worth exploring.

Nearby McMinnville offers even more restaurants, shopping, entertainment and everyday amenities, while still allowing you to come home to a smaller-town way of life.

A GREAT PLACE TO PUT DOWN ROOTS AND RAISE A FAMILY

Maybe what you're looking for isn't simply your next career move.

Maybe you're looking for a place where you and your family can build a life.

Carlton offers the appeal of a smaller community, beautiful surroundings, outdoor recreation and access to the amenities and experiences of the broader Willamette Valley.

It's a place where weekends can mean a family hike, a fishing trip, a bike ride, exploring wine country, enjoying a great local restaurant, heading out on an Oregon adventure—or simply slowing down and spending time together.

Whether you're drawn to hunting, fishing, hiking, biking, camping, food, wine, agriculture, outdoor adventure, small-town living or raising a family with a little more room to breathe, this part of Oregon offers a lifestyle that's pretty special.

YOUR CAREER SHOULD SUPPORT THE LIFE YOU WANT TO BUILD.

At Carlton Farms, we're offering an opportunity to do both.

Build relationships. Grow your career. Become part of a team. And build a life in a place you'll be excited to call home.
