Job description

Position Summary

Reporting to and functioning under the general supervision of the Supervisor, the mammography technologist prepares for and operates imaging equipment following specific physicians' orders. Produces detailed computer-generated scans of patients for breast and DEXA exams, verifies patients' identification prior to scan, selects patient from work list, ensures exam is archived on the PACS. Maintains facilities in proper order. Must keep abreast of all new departmental imaging. To perform a variety of mammographic and DEXA procedures using X-Rays.

Education

Completion from an accredited radiography program and registered in radiography and mammography by the ARRT, or registry eligible.

Experience

One year mammography experience preferred.

Skills

Registered in Radiology Technology by the ARRT with advanced Mammography Certification and a current and valid license from the State of NJ DEP. Current CPR certification thru the American Heart Association. Physical dexterity to operate a variety of complex stationary and mobile radiation producing equipment and mechanical accessories. Ability to work in sensitive areas including the Knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Effective interaction and communication (oral, writing, presenting) skills. Ability to perform accurately and attention to details, changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. Ability to function competently in stressful situations and changing work environment related to changing patient needs. Ability to work cooperatively within the health-system, and with patients, family members, co-workers, and multidisciplinary team members (i.e. , physicians, Patient Care Services staff members, etc.). Ability to utilize effective time management to set priorities, perform job related responsibilities, and respond quickly to emergency situations.
