Position Summary

Responsible for assisting surgeons during intraoperative procedures. Privileges under the direct supervision of the surgeon include the following:

Principal Accountabilities

• Standards of Performance: Respect, Integrity, Compassion, Collaboration, Stewardship, Accountability, Quality

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

Licenses and Certification

• Current Illinois Registered Nurse License

• Certification (CNOR) for Certified First Assist

Experience and Skills

• Technical Experience: 2 years of OR experience

Roles and Responsibilities

o Assist surgeon with gowning, gloving, prepping and draping.

o Facilitate safe positioning of patient according to the surgeon's preference, patient's anatomical and physiological limits, and surgical procedure to be performed.

o Assist surgeon with passing instruments or suture and basic assisting.

o Provides exposure, assists in achieving homeostasis with surgeon's supervision.

o Provides manipulation and dissection and / or removal of tissues, aids in implanting, securing, and/or removal of devises and drains.

o Performs layered closure of surgical sites utilizing appropriate techniques according to individual surgeon preference.

o Applies appropriate dressing material specific to procedure.

o Applies splints or casts specific to procedure and / or injury.

o Assesses skin integrity and assists in transfer of patient post- operative.

o Special Requests (based on training and experience)

Compensation

Compensation (Commensurate with experience): $40.35 To $63.55
