Job description


Position Summary
The Drug Testing Specialist is responsible for conducting drug and alcohol testing services in a professional, accurate, and timely manner. This role supports program compliance and client accountability by administering approved testing methods, maintaining specimen integrity, and ensuring accurate documentation. The position requires strong attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to work independently in both field-based and administrative settings. Some assignments may require gender-specific specimen collection in accordance with client requirements and applicable regulations.


Work Environment
This position is hybrid and includes both field-based and administrative responsibilities. Fieldwork requires travel to client locations, testing sites, and community settings throughout assigned service areas. Administrative tasks may be completed remotely. Regular travel is required between Omaha, Lincoln, Columbus, and surrounding communities.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Testing Responsibilities

  • Administer drug and alcohol testing using approved methods including urinalysis (UA), oral swabs, and sweat patch testing
  • Ensure testing procedures are conducted in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations
  • Provide clear instructions to clients regarding testing procedures
  • Maintain professionalism, neutrality, and client dignity during all interactions


Compliance and Documentation

  • Maintain an accurate chain of custody for all specimens
  • Prepare, package, and ship specimens to designated laboratories
  • Accurately document all testing activities and results in the company systems
  • Ensure timely completion of required reporting and documentation
  • Maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and company standards


Operations and Scheduling

  • Maintain awareness of testing schedules and complete assigned appointments in a timely manner
  • Respond to scheduling updates, urgent testing needs, and on-call requests as required
  • Accurately track and submit drive time and mileage in accordance with company procedures
  • Maintain inventory of testing supplies and communicate restocking needs


Safety and Professional Conduct

  • Follow all safety procedures while conducting field-based services
  • Exercise situational awareness when working in client environments
  • Report incidents, refusals, or irregularities according to protocol
  • Maintain professional communication with clients, referral sources, and internal team members


Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in required training and ongoing compliance education
  • Support program operations and coordination as needed
  • Assist with quality reviews or audits when requested
  • Adhere to all company policies and documentation timelines


Compensation:

  • $19/ Hour for Face-to-face Services provided
  • $19/Hour for Drive time to and from services provided


Work Environment:

  • Candidate located in the Omaha, Nebraska area or the surrounding community
  • Hybrid work availability. Services provided in the community, client homes, and ABOH Offices.


Qualifications

  • Required
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation
  • Acceptable driving record (no more than 3 points assessed)
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening, and maintain eligibility standards
  • Availability to work at least one weekend day per week and two evenings
  • Strong communication, professionalism, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills


  • Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in human services, criminal justice, behavioral health, or related field
  • At least two years of experience in drug testing, specimen collection, or a related field
  • Familiarity with chain of custody procedures and compliance standards
  • Candidate based in Omaha, Nebraska, or the surrounding community


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel regularly within assigned service areas
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform testing procedures as needed
  • Ability to lift and carry testing supplies and materials
