What does the Process Automation Engineer do?

This position is part of our Engineering Services team with the specific title of Process Automation Engineer I or II dependent on technical experience and competency.

Required Skills, Experience & Abilities:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, Electronics, Industrial Technology OR Associate degree in similar area OR equivalent combination of relevant experience and education.

Three or more years of experience in Manufacturing and Process control operations.

Experience reading and interpreting Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).

Ability to work in office or at client sites Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm and to occasionally work additional hours as needed and to participate in rotating on call support.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Outlook email, and basic computer skills.

Dedication to safe workplace practices and have the ability to comply with all company and site safety regulations.

Ability and strong desire to lead by example, as well as work with others.

Ability to drive for the company with a valid driver’s license and the ability to pass driving record background check.

Ability to utilize personal vehicle for some work travel AND the ability to rent a car when requested for work travel.

Ability to independently travel domestically up to 50% of the time including overnights and weekends as needed.

Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.

Ability to work in manufacturing and data center environments with shifting and extreme temperatures.

Three or more years of experience using computer aided drafting software.

Prior experience working on Emerson systems.

Two or more years of DeltaV or PLC application and configuration experience.

Experience programming any PLC or DCS platform such as Allen Bradley, Rockwell, Siemens, Honeywell and/or similar program.

Prior experience in the technical areas of valve repair and instrument services.

Prior experience in Quality Control.

Prior experience in reliability.

Prior experience as project manager.

Prior experience leading a process improvement initiative to completion.

The salary range for Process Automation Engineer I is $62,500–$100,000 annually. The salary range for Process Automation Engineer II is $71,500 - $115,500 annually. We recognize that candidates bring different backgrounds, strengths, and experiences, and actual compensation will be determined based on the relevant skills, qualifications, experience, and demonstrated capabilities each candidate brings to the role.
