Job description

Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. ***This position will work 1st shift: 6 AM - 4:30 PM, 4 days a week (front half: Sunday-Wednesday)***

To deliver on that mission, Amazon is looking for talented candidates who combine superb technical, research and analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively.
In this role, you'll join Amazon Leo's Structural Integrity and Analysis team as a Liaison Engineer to innovate and solve engineering issues that arise during Amazon Leo production operations leading to every flight of our constellation of satellites

You will be working on the shop floor along side Manufacturing and Quality teams to develop engineering dispositions related to non-conformances. You will work hard, have fun, and make history.
This Liaison Engineer must have Material Review Board (MRB) experience in aerospace programs, and must be able to understand the balance between engineering judgment versus analysis rigor and when each is appropriate.
Key job responsibilities
- ***This position will work 1st shift: 6 AM - 4:30 PM, 4 days a week (front half: Sunday-Wednesday)
- Review and disposition non-conformance events of the spacecraft and its ground support equipment that may occur in all phases of the Amazon Leo operations: procurement, storage, handling, manufacturing, assembly, testing, transportation, final integration, launch and orbital operations
- Develop standard repairs, rework procedures, propose design for manufacturing (DFM) improvements, improved processes and work instructions
- Conduct root cause investigations and develop corrective actions
- Document static, dynamic and fatigue stress analyses when needed to support dispositions, interpreting established structural analysis reports
- Develop analysis methods to address common non-conformances
- Work with Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering experts to provide root cause failure analyses
- Interact with internal customers, external customers, and suppliers
A day in the life
This Liaison/MRB Engineer will be providing engineering support to resolve engineering issues that arise during manufacturing and assembly processes, quality inspection and acceptance tests, through the application of engineering and design principles, consulting the engineering development teams as needed.
About the team
The Liaison Engineering team is part of the Amazon Leo Structural Integrity and Analysis teams (Structural Analysis, Loads and Dynamics, Materials and Processes and Reliability) that is ultimately responsible for Integrity of not only the spacecraft but all other commodities supporting the program, inside and outside of the Mechanical Engineering group.
