Job description

Process Chemical Engineer II

We are seeking a Process Chemical Engineer II to design, specify, and implement chemical distribution and dosing systems supporting ultra-pure water (UPW) and industrial wastewater treatment. In this role, you will take ownership of system engineering from concept through commissioning, collaborating with cross-functional teams and vendors to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient chemical process solutions.

What You Will Do
  • Design and engineer chemical distribution and dosing systems for UPW and industrial wastewater applications
  • Develop and maintain P&IDs, process flow diagrams, equipment layouts, and supporting calculations in collaboration with design and CAD teams
  • Size and specify pumps, tanks, piping, valves, instrumentation, and dosing systems
  • Ensure systems meet performance requirements, safety standards, customer specifications, and regulatory compliance
  • Partner with equipment vendors to evaluate, select, and procure system components
  • Review vendor submittals, drawings, and technical proposals for compliance with specifications
  • Lead technical discussions and resolve design and performance gaps
  • Perform mass balance calculations, chemical dosing calculations, and system modeling
  • Optimize chemical usage, dosing accuracy, and system efficiency
  • Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support capital projects from concept through commissioning and startup
  • Collaborate with engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations teams to ensure successful installation and handoff
  • Develop and review commissioning plans and operational procedures
  • Conduct hazard analyses such as HAZOP and FMEA as required
  • Perform source inspections at vendor sites to verify systems meet requirements
Position Details
  • Reports to: Systems Engineering Manager
  • Travel: Periodic travel required for customer design reviews, vendor inspections, and commissioning activities, potentially up to two weeks at a time, several times per year depending on project needs
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in chemical process engineering, ideally with semiconductor UPW and wastewater systems including hydrofluoric acid waste, ammonia peroxide treatment, copper slurry waste, chemical mechanical polish metal, and oxide waste
  • Strong understanding of fluid systems, pump sizing, and process controls
  • Experience working with vendors and reviewing technical submittals
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing and commissioning chemical dosing and delivery systems (e.g., blender systems)
  • Experience in semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or advanced manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with UPW systems (RO, EDI, polishing loops) and industrial wastewater treatment processes
  • Knowledge of instrumentation and control systems (PLC/SCADA integration)
Annual Or Hourly Compensation Range

The pay range for this role is $80,000-$110,000 Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation, such as experience, education, training, geography, etc. We comply with all minimum wage and overtime laws.
