Job description

SUMMARY: CEC Certified Nursing Instructor
This position is only applicable for an instructor who is approved by CNM to teach their CNA Program for APS (CEC).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Incumbent must achieve the following outcomes specific to the position of CEC Certified Nursing Assistant
instructor with or without reasonable accommodation:
  • Comply with the Department of Health Rules and Regulations for Nursing Assistants
  • Ensure NA program maintains current approval with DOH
  • Ensure that instructor is certified to teach the CNM CNA program for CEC
  • Maintain appropriate communication with director and students
  • Maintain and role model professional demeanor
  • Maintain communication with the clinical settings
  • Maintain clinical competency, ensuring safe clinical practices
  • Structure classes and curriculum to correspond with expected outcomes.
  • Utilize approved resources effectively in coordinating students learning
  • Organize content and learning experiences in various principles of learning
  • Utilize approved evaluation instruments to assess learning and achievement of goals.
  • Provide on-site clinical supervision
  • Maintain academic records in a timely manner
  • Maintain test security
  • Participate in faculty and school wide meetings

DUTIES: In addition to the essential functions of this job, the incumbent must perform the following duties:
  • Complies with state-approved Code of Ethics of the Education Profession and upholds and enforces rules, administrative directives and regulations, school board policies, and local, state and federal regulations.
  • Articulates and facilitates the implementation of the mission and values of the Albuquerque Public Schools.
  • Safeguards confidentiality of privileged information.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate and complete records and reports as required by law, state directives, District policy and administrative regulations.
  • Shares the responsibility for the supervision and care of District inventory, proper and safe use of facilities, equipment and supplies, and reports safety hazards promptly.
  • Maintains professional relationships and works cooperatively with employees, the community and other professionals.
  • Maintains professional competence through individual and staff training, in-service educational activities and self-selected professional growth activities.
  • Attends and/or conducts staff meetings and participates on committees within area of responsibility.
  • Performs other tasks related to area of responsibilities as requested or assigned by an immediate supervisor.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
PREFERED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
  • In accordance with 16.12.3.12 Subsection C NMAC:
  • The administrator and all nursing program faculty shall hold a current license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of NM
  • Meets the requirements set forth by Title 42, volume 4 Subpart D Section 483.152.

REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
  • 7-12 Secondary Vocational Technical (Trades: nursing, auto repair, welding, technology, cosmetology, mechanics, carpentry etc.)
  • Bachelor's Degree in related occupational area, or;
  • Associate Degree plus (2) years of verifiable work experience, or;
  • Certificate plus (3) years of verifiable work experience, or;
  • High school diploma/GED plus (5) years of verifiable work experience
    • Verifiable work experience must be related to the occupational area
  • Valid NM Teacher's license appropriate to teaching assignment
    • 800 7-12 Secondary
    • Endorsements cannot be added to this license
