Senior Clinical Informatics Educator
Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift

Position Summary:
Education is a critical component of Informatics and directly affects the success or failure of any new or modified IT driven solution. This position is responsible for teaching nurses, high and mid level providers, ancillary, and other healthcare professionals about the effective and ethical uses of information technology, as well as informatics concepts and theories that are essential for optimal use of informatics solutions in clinical practice. The Clinical Informatics Educator provides service and support across the health system directed by matrix leadership of the IT Clinical Applications Manager, Director of Clinical Education, and the CNO Education Leader.
Responsibilities
  • Successful Management / Chair of one or more governance or standardization teams for at least 1 year.
  • Aid in education strategic budget and road map planning for education curriculum and deployment.
  • Project Manage a large scale education effort as the training coordinator i.e. (a new facility or major application install CPOE, HEC, HED, Admin RX, and so on).
  • Manage curriculum development for new hires and or staff types i.e. (nursing students, critical care nurses, or ED physicians).
  • Develop, oversee, and directly provide clinical informatics education content and support for clinical applications, new users, upgrades, updates, and act as a liaison between IT and Covenant affiliates.
  • Develop, assess, and evaluate informatics skills and annual core competencies of the end user. Develop and maintain course competencies for clinical applications.
  • Develop and maintain course evaluations and utilize data gathered from evaluations along with demonstrated skills, to evaluate and measure effectiveness of curricula, learning tools, and methods.
  • Maintain class attendance training records of all clinical applications in relation to build and table maintenance of new access for log in and password.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all clinical documentation systems.
  • Attend meetings as required and participates on committees as directed.
  • Research, develop, and implement, new educational technologies, integrating the solutions into the educational and practice environments, and champion adoption of informatics solutions.
  • Assist in identifying, defining, and measuring core level computer and information literacy for the information user / consumer and mitigating the deficiencies.
  • Employs informatics principles, standards, and methodologies to establish and maintain patient confidentiality within legal and regulatory parameters.
  • Incorporates education factors related to privacy, security, and confidentiality in the use and handling of data, information, and knowledge sharing.
  • Assist in development and standardization of IT policies and procedures relevant to clinical information systems.
  • Execute implementation tasks and activities outlined in the project plan.
  • Demonstrates flexibility, based on training needs, project timelines, and installation requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications
Minimum Education
Masters Degree in education or related field, or (8) years experience equivalence in Informatics Education. Prefer Master's degree in Nursing, Education, IT, Informatics or Board Certified in Informatics,
Minimum Experience
Ten (10) years clinical nursing experience. Prefer at least two (2) years of experience with PC, MS-Windows, and Covenant's current clinical application.
Licensure Requirement
Nursing applicants must have a current RN license
