Job description


Title: Nurse Manager – PACU


Location: Austin, TX


Schedule: Full-Time, Days (No Weekends)


Compensation: Up to $130,000/year (based on experience)


Relocation Assistance: Available (case-by-case)

Position Overview

A leading medical center in Central Austin is seeking a PACU Nurse Manager to oversee day-to-day operations of the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. This working manager role provides direct leadership to a team of 18.5 FTEs, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality recovery care for surgical patients. The ideal candidate will bring strong perioperative experience, proven management ability, and a BSN with advanced life support certifications.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations and staffing assignments for the PACU
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, departmental objectives, and patient safety standards
  • Review and approve staff performance appraisals and establish professional goals
  • Maintain departmental manuals, policies/procedures, standing orders, and protocols
  • Identify and resolve operational or facility issues
  • Participate in quality/process improvement initiatives and budget management
  • Serve as a change agent and role model for staff development and organizational goals
  • Support ongoing education and professional growth of team members


Required Qualifications

  • BSN required
  • Current Texas RN license (or compact eligibility)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in OR or day surgery required
  • Prior management/supervisory experience required
