Job description

Connor Co., a company rich in history, currently has an available Delivery Driver/Warehouse position at our Springfield, IL branch. We seek a career-minded person looking for a long-term position with a great company.

Candidates must:

  • Pass a pre-employment background check and drug testing.
  • Be available to work from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Principal Accountabilities:

Prepares truck for operation by inspecting general condition: check fluid levels and tire pressure; notify Branch Manager after obtaining or scheduling required repairs.

Maintains truck operating efficiency by completing preventative maintenance requirements, following the manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and scheduling repairs.

Loads delivery truck with product securely, avoiding damages

Delivers items by identifying destinations, establishing routes, operating the truck, unloading items, and maintaining the schedule

Uses a cell phone to report on the progress of deliveries

Picks up returned items for the company

Verifies products delivered against the packing slip and has the customer sign the receipt

Serves customers by understanding and resolving or forwarding complaints

Enhances the organization's reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests

Process inbound materials to the warehouse. Compares quantities shown on packing slips or manifests with actual items received

Efficient and effective loading and unloading of trucks

Inspects items according to instructions and reports damaged goods

Ensures materials are placed in the designated area within the warehouse

Stacks skids or pallets in designated areas. Cleans up and disposes of scrap bracing, cardboard, and strapping, and puts them in the proper container or designated area

General housekeeping: sweeping, mopping, dusting

Assist customers at the counter

Perform other duties as requested

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

High School Diploma or its equivalent

Valid driver’s license (Illinois Class C required) and clean driving record

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Critical thinker, using logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions

Mathematical reasoning- the ability to choose the suitable method or formulas to solve the problem

Ability to learn the Eclipse software

Must be very detail-oriented and focused on accuracy

Ability to perform assignments with minimal supervision and under tight deadlines

Must have strong interpersonal communication skills

Must maintain a patient and professional attitude while managing a busy workload

Strong organizational skills are required

Must be able to determine and prioritize workload

Ability to read directions and use a street map to plot a delivery route

Working Conditions:

Normal warehouse environment

Exposure to varying weather conditions and temperatures in the warehouse and on the loading dock.

Physical strength to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
