Electro-Mechanical Assembly Cell Lead

Location: Knightstown, IN
Schedule: 1st shift, Monday–Thursday, 4:00 AM–2:30 PM
Employment Type: Direct Hire

Lead from the front. As the Electro-Mechanical Assembly Cell Lead, you’ll build complex industrial equipment shoulder-to-shoulder with your team while steering priorities, training talent, and keeping work flowing safely and on time. Production spans everything from small components and subassemblies to full machines and systems.

A day in the life
  • Kick off the morning standup: set goals, align on the schedule, and allocate work based on skills and demand.
  • Roll up your sleeves: assemble mechanical, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical units using hand and torque tools, wrenches, thread sealants, and measuring devices.
  • Guide quality: interpret work instructions, drawings, and BOMs; perform in-process and final checks; keep inspection logs and serial-number traceability up to date.
  • Keep materials moving: communicate shortages, track inventory status, assist with receiving, and stage finished goods for shipment.
  • Run the data: log labor, material consumption, inventory moves, and work-order details in the production/ERP system; verify accuracy on each job.
  • Coach in the moment: provide feedback, cross-train teammates, and onboard new hires to elevate performance and safety.
  • Close the loop: flag production issues early, coordinate with leadership to remove roadblocks, and maintain a clean, organized, and safe area.
What you’ll own
  • Daily direction, task assignment, and labor coordination aligned to changing production priorities.
  • Hands-on assembly across mechanical, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical builds.
  • Training, cross-training, and ongoing coaching for new and experienced team members.
  • Tracking attendance, productivity, and quality; escalating concerns to management when needed.
  • Communication with materials, scheduling, and other departments about shortages, timing, and issues.
  • Inventory stewardship: monitoring stock, proper receiving/issuing, cycle counts, and accuracy initiatives.
  • Work-order review and confirmation that materials and labor are recorded correctly.
  • Support for shipping prep and final quality inspections as required.
  • Participation in daily production meetings; clear updates on priorities, constraints, and resource needs.
  • Promoting teamwork, accountability, quality, and a positive, safety-first culture.
What you bring
  • Experience in manufacturing, assembly, machine building, or a related production setting.
  • Background leading others (formal team lead/supervisor or strong informal leadership).
  • Proven mechanical aptitude and hands-on assembly capability.
  • Comfort with mechanical, hydraulic, and/or electro-mechanical assembly.
  • Proficiency with hand and torque tools, wrenches, and basic measuring instruments.
  • Ability to read work instructions, engineering drawings, and bills of material.
  • Familiarity with inventory, work-order, ERP, or manufacturing tracking systems.
  • Strong organization, problem-solving, and the ability to pivot with shifting schedules.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to train, coach, and motivate.
  • Quality mindset with high attention to detail and a willingness to jump in wherever needed.
