Position Summary
The Senior DataOps Engineer is responsible for executing the organization's data management and storage system strategy ensuring timely access to secure, resilient, scalable, and accurate data.The role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure and tools necessary to support our data pipelines and storage systems, as well as improving our monitoring, automation, and deployment processes. Additional responsibilities include building and maintaining ancillary systems and solutions that enhance the security, stability, availability, and performance of data pipeline and storage system deliverables under their purview. This role involves strategic planning, technical leadership, and collaboration with various stakeholders including Guild's Product Delivery, Data Services, DevOps, and Infrastructure teams to ensure data movement and workflow processes meet business needs and data is safeguarded as a critical asset to support organizational goals.
Compensation
This role is an exempt position with a targeted salary range of $94,882 to $136,096 annually.
Compensation at Guild is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to local and federal minimum wage requirements, education, level of experience, and applicant's geographical location.
Essential Functions
  • Execute DataOps projects from conception to deployment, ensuring timely, and successful delivery.
  • Implement automation tools and scripts to streamline data workflows and reduce manual intervention.
  • Implement monitoring and alerting systems to track the health and performance of data pipelines and storage systems and quickly resolve any issues that arise.
  • Ensure robust data pipeline and storage system security measures are in place and that data management practices comply with relevant regulations.
  • Implement and maintain disaster recovery plans and redundancy measures, ensuring data integrity and availability in case of failures.
  • Perform data migrations from existing databases to our Cloud environment, ensuring seamless transitions and data integrity.
  • Experience creating/maintaining standards, along with enforcing those standards, to provide lean, high performant data pipelines and storage systems while balancing overall costs.
  • Stay abreast of latest technology trends and participate in high-level decisions impacting the direction of the Information Technology function.
  • Aid Guild's data transformation includes the support of new ways of working and generating insights.
  • Work closely with development, operations, and other teams to foster a culture of reliability, and provide feedback on system design and architecture for improved reliability.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree directly related to the position or equivalent, preferred.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum five years experience.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (i.e. Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog).
  • Strong understanding of data quality principles and practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of Cloud storage services within AWS (Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon Redshift, etc.) and Azure (Azure SQLDatabase, Azure database for MySQL, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, etc.).
  • Familiarity with data security and privacy best practices, including encryption, access controls, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with disaster recovery strategies.
  • Expert with performance monitoring, optimization, tuning and management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; ability to work in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, Wiki, collaborative cloud-based programs, and third-party software applications required.

Supervision

Interaction/Supervision: Works under broad direction with considerable latitude for independent actions; guided by professional standards, desired outcomes and unit/project/program specifications.
Requirements
  • Work is primarily sedentary; mobility in an office setting.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
  • Regularly required to accurately perceive, distinguish and interpret information received visually and through audio; e.g., words, numbers and other data broadcasted aloud/viewed on a screen, as well as print and other media.
  • Office environment - moderate noise, no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
  • Travel 5% or less.
  • Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, and make timely decisions in the context of a workflow.
  • Work is primarily performed during the business week, Monday - Friday; occasional night or weekend may be necessary.
