Job description

Position Description:

Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Geology Superintendent to join our Fourmile Project team.  The successful candidate will lead and develop a team of geologists to deliver an extensive drill program in support of the PFS, focused on Mineral Resource growth and conversion. Accountable for the design and execution of infill, growth, and exploration drilling, and for building robust orebody knowledge through high-quality data acquisition, logging, sampling, and geological interpretation, integrated into 3D models and study deliverables.

As the project advances through FS and underground access enables first production, this role will establish and lead underground mine geology functions, including defining and managing geology KPIs, implementing ore control and material tracking systems, optimizing development routing strategies, and ensuring disciplined integration of geological inputs into mine planning and production.

Responsibilities:

  • Safety Leadership: Drive a zero-harm culture through visible felt leadership, reinforcement of stop-work authority, and adherence to safety systems and programs.
  • Cross-Functional Integration: Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships across Engineering, Operations, Process, Environment, Growth, Exploration, Safety, and Finance to ensure alignment and delivery of business objectives.
  • Drill Program Delivery: Own and execute Indicated and Inferred drilling programs to support Mineral Resource growth and conversion in line with business priorities.
  • Orebody Knowledge & Modeling: Develop and integrate orebody knowledge into 3D geological models through high-quality data acquisition and geological interpretation, with a focus on representative estimation and geometallurgical domains.
  • Capability Development: Lead training and development of the geology team, ensuring disciplined execution of drill programs with dynamic geological control, fit-for-purpose logging, sampling, and interpretation standards.
  • Standards & QA/QC Assurance: Oversee QA/QC systems and sampling protocols, ensuring compliance with company standards, continuous improvement, and effective SOP governance and training.
  • Resource Estimation Integration: Partner with the resource team to deliver accurate, fit-for-purpose Mineral Resource estimates, maximizing the value of all available data and geological understanding.
  • Program Planning & Execution: Approve and oversee the design, costing, and execution of drilling programs, including proposals and expenditure requests.
  • Budget & Cost Control: Support development of the MRM budget and maintain accountability for cost tracking, forecasting, and variance management.
  • Business Integration: Ensure orebody knowledge is effectively embedded across planning, studies, and operational decision-making.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to annual business planning, including risk identification and the pursuit of strategic opportunities.
  • Performance Management: Monitor and deliver against departmental KPIs, including drilling, cost, schedule, and ounce delivery targets.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify improvement opportunities and lead change initiatives to enhance technical and operational performance.
  • Other responsibilities as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related field required 
  • Minimum five (5) years' experience with underground mine geology or exploration, preferred
  • Experience with leading technical teams with strong interdepartmental communication skills preferred
  • Excellent safety record with ability to demonstrate safety leadership required
  • Collaborative leadership of a multidisciplinary team required
  • Experience building orebody knowledge & estimation domains preferred
  • Proficiency in Leapfrog, and acQuire software and familiarity of Deswik, Vulcan or Datamine software preferred
  • Proven ability to communicate optimally; both verbally and in writing required
  • Proven track record of managing multi-drill rig fleet to deliver resource conversion plans required
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision required
  • Strong organizational capability and succession pipeline for technical streams preferred
