Our client in the Birmingham, AL area is looing for a Solution Architect
Solutions Architect Data Platform
Location: Birmingham, AL (Hybrid)
A rapidly growing, multi-site organization is seeking a hands-on Solutions Architect to help design and build its next-generation enterprise data platform. This is an opportunity to join an organization investing heavily in cloud technologies, modern data architecture, AI-assisted engineering, and enterprise analytics.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing technical leadership with hands-on development and wants to make a significant impact by designing scalable data solutions that support a growing business.
Position Overview
As the Solutions Architect, you will own the end-to-end architecture of the enterprise data platform, connecting operational, financial, HR, and business systems into a scalable, secure, and high-performing environment. You'll work closely with business and technology leaders to establish architectural standards, mentor engineers, and build modern cloud-based solutions.
Responsibilities
  • Design and evolve the enterprise data platform, including data ingestion, storage, modeling, governance, and analytics.
  • Architect scalable integration solutions using Azure Data Factory, REST APIs, Change Data Capture (CDC), and event-driven technologies.
  • Develop and support cloud-native applications and services using Python, Go, Kubernetes, and modern engineering practices.
  • Establish enterprise data standards, governance, quality metrics, and security best practices.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools and automation to improve engineering productivity and software quality.
  • Partner with executive leadership and technical teams to translate business objectives into scalable technology solutions.
  • Lead architecture reviews, mentor engineering teams, and promote software engineering best practices.
  • Design secure, reliable, and maintainable solutions capable of supporting continued organizational growth.

Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, platform architecture, or a related technical field.
  • Strong expertise with SQL Server, T-SQL, SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), and Azure Data Factory.
  • Experience designing enterprise data platforms and data warehouse solutions.
  • Strong programming experience with Python, Go, or another modern backend language.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, REST APIs, event-driven architectures, and Change Data Capture (CDC).
  • Experience with modern analytical platforms such as ClickHouse, Snowflake, Databricks, or BigQuery.
  • Knowledge of enterprise data governance, security, and access control best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with business stakeholders and translate complex business needs into scalable technical solutions.
  • Passion for modern software engineering practices and AI-assisted development.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting healthcare, multi-site retail, service organizations, or other distributed enterprise environments.
  • Experience integrating enterprise operational systems or business-critical applications.
  • Exposure to AI development tools, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), LLM technologies, or AI-assisted software engineering.
