Position Summary

The Database Developer IV (Lead) is responsible for leading the design, development, optimization, and maintenance of enterprise database solutions that support critical business applications. This role partners closely with product owners, architects, developers, QA, data teams, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing database systems. The ideal candidate combines deep database development expertise with technical leadership, mentoring, and a passion for delivering high-quality, production-ready solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders, including product owners, UX researchers, data teams, QA teams, project managers, architects, and cross-functional engineering teams to understand functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Lead database solution design and development efforts, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, security standards, and best practices.
  • Promote a collaborative team environment and work closely with engineering leadership to achieve business objectives.
  • Own project planning activities including work estimation, technical planning, forecasting, and delivery timelines for database development initiatives.
  • Design, develop, optimize, and maintain complex SQL code, stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, and database objects that support enterprise applications.
  • Analyze business requirements to determine data integration needs and design scalable database integration solutions across multiple systems.
  • Prepare technical documentation including database designs, data models, architecture documentation, implementation plans, testing strategies, and operational procedures.
  • Write high-quality, maintainable database code that emphasizes performance, scalability, reliability, security, and testability.
  • Implement and support unit testing, integration testing, functional testing, and performance testing for database solutions.
  • Conduct code reviews and promote collaborative development practices to ensure consistent quality and adherence to development standards.
  • Develop reusable database components, templates, and frameworks that accelerate development and improve consistency across projects.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex database performance issues by optimizing queries, indexes, execution plans, and overall database architecture.
  • Establish, document, and enforce database development standards, coding guidelines, and deployment processes.
  • Support CI/CD initiatives by implementing automated database deployments, version control, and release management best practices.
  • Stay current with emerging database technologies, cloud platforms, data management practices, and performance optimization techniques to continuously improve development processes.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven experience as a Database Developer, Database Engineer, or similar role with a strong track record of delivering enterprise-scale database solutions.
  • Extensive experience designing, developing, and optimizing relational databases using Microsoft SQL Server and advanced T-SQL.
  • Strong understanding of database architecture, data modeling, normalization, indexing strategies, query optimization, and database security best practices.
