Job description

Position Overview:
The Database Administrator (DBA) supports the agency's enterprise data environment by designing high-availability database solutions, developing data warehouse and business intelligence structures, optimizing system performance, and guiding database strategy. This role works closely with IT Architecture, CIO leadership, developers, and business partners to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable data systems. The position requires strong technical expertise in Oracle, PL/SQL, SQL Server, data modeling, and enterprise data warehousing concepts.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement high-availability clustered database solutions, including hardware planning, node configuration, cluster ware installation, and performance tuning.
  • Configure replication, log shipping, and standby servers to support business continuity and disaster recovery requirements.
  • Collaborate with IT Architecture, the CIO, and IT Managers to design technical solutions, contribute to business case development, and resolve Tier III database issues.
  • Define business intelligence data needs and design data warehouse and data mart structures to support enterprise reporting and analytics.
  • Implement business intelligence tools, dashboards, scorecards, and analytic applications.
  • Develop and document standards, best practices, and procedures for installation, configuration, monitoring, security, and system migrations.
  • Perform performance tuning and configuration optimization across multiple platforms, including data manipulation models and multidimensional data models.
  • Design standards for secure data exchange between systems and develop database strategies aligned with business needs.
  • Serve as a mentor to peers and junior staff by providing technical guidance, documentation, and training.
