Job description

Senior Technical Lead For SQL Server Database Development

Position is 100% onsite daily in Norco, CA.

The contractor shall serve as the senior technical lead for SQL Server database development, data migration, data warehouse/data mart architecture, and ETL/ELT initiatives supporting Navy mission systems and enterprise data platforms.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain SQL Server databases, tables, views, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and indexes.
  • Support OLTP database design including normalization, constraints, keys, and referential integrity.
  • Develop and maintain Data Warehouse and Data Mart solutions utilizing dimensional modeling and star schema design.
  • Create, optimize, and troubleshoot complex T-SQL queries and stored procedures.
  • Develop ETL/ELT processes and data integration solutions for loading data from files, APIs, staging environments, and external systems.
  • Perform data validation, reconciliation, and data quality assessments.
  • Support migration activities between PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and other relational database platforms.
  • Create and maintain database documentation including ERDs, data dictionaries, source-to-target mappings, and technical design documentation.
  • Develop reporting views and curated datasets to support analytics and business intelligence initiatives.
  • Analyze execution plans and perform query tuning, indexing optimization, and database performance improvements.
  • Support software releases, deployments, testing, and environment promotion activities across Development, Test, Staging, and Production environments.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and collaborate with developers, analysts, and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of Microsoft SQL Server database development experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of advanced T-SQL development experience.
  • Experience designing and developing production database solutions.
  • Experience creating and maintaining tables, views, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and indexes.
  • Experience with database performance tuning and query optimization.
  • Experience with OLTP database design and normalization principles.
  • Experience with Data Warehouse and Data Mart development.
  • Experience with ETL/ELT processes and data integration.
  • Understanding of dimensional modeling, star schema design, fact tables, and dimension tables.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience producing technical documentation and database designs.
  • Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Experience migrating PostgreSQL databases to SQL Server.
  • Knowledge of data governance, role-based access controls, and database security best practices.

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and database deployment processes.
