Job description

Job Title: Sr. Database admin - Adabas Database
Job Location: Atlanta, GA
Job Type: Contract

Job Description:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience with zDb2 IMS DBDC andor ADABAS Proficiency with replication software such as IIDR IBM Infosphere Data Replication Suite Strong understanding of zConnect Enterprise Edition zCEE API framework Expertise in IBM DB2 database administration on zOS mainframe platforms Indepth knowledge of SQL DB2 partitioning indexing data sharing and performance tuning techniques Experience with mainframe operating system concepts and Job Control Language JCL Familiarity with data security best practices and compliance regulations Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex databaserelated issues Strong experience in managing database backups recovery procedures and disaster recovery planning Preferred knowledge of IBM DB2 IMS DBDC and ADABAS database products Familiarity with service level management change management and incident resolution Experience working with external vendors and managing software upgrades Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience Relevant certifications in DB2 or related database technologies are a plus Fulltime role with oncall support responsibilities Collaboration with internal and external teams to ensure high performance and availability of database systems

Roles and Responsibilitiesย 

  • Manage and maintain IBM DB2 databases on the zOS mainframe platform Create and manage database objects including tables indexes and table spaces Perform data manipulation operations such as loading unloading and reorganizing data using DB2 utilities Implement database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data availability and disaster recovery Monitor database performance metrics to identify and resolve bottlenecks Perform database tuning to enhance query performance and maintain optimal system functioning Utilize tools like RUNSTATS to maintain accurate database statistics for query optimization Develop and maintain effective communication with application teams regarding infrastructure technology projects and roadmaps Serve as a consultant to application teams and business users on new technologies and system enhancements Collaborate with application developers to design and implement database schema changes Oversee external DBA teams and systems programmers during installation and support of mainframe database software Facilitate service level management including change management incident and problem management Stay current with software upgrades ensuring timely implementation of new features Work with external vendor teams to ensure smooth conversions during software updates and releases Proactively monitor database platforms for high availability identifying root causes and correcting issues Keep management informed of risks and develop mitigation strategies Participate in audit reviews including quarterly SOX audits ensuring compliance Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing to ensure database resilience Stay uptodate on advancements in database technologies and lifecycle management focusing on deprecated features and mitigation planning
