**Location:** Charlotte, NC / Iselin, NJ (Hybrid)
**Rate:** $45-$55/hr on W2
**Client:** Wells Fargo

Sr Database Engineer (SQL)

**Role Overview**
- **Position**: Lead Database Engineer (Senior Database Migration Engineer)
- **Focus**: End-to-end migration of **Oracle, Exadata, and Microsoft SQL Server** databases as part of a large-scale, wave-based data center or platform migration program.
- **Industry Context**: Regulated Banking/Financial Services (BFS) environment with strict governance and compliance.

### **Key Responsibilities (Phased Approach)**
1. **Planning & Assessment**  
   - Define migration strategy, sequencing, and wave planning.  
   - Assess source/target readiness, perform compatibility checks, and identify automation needs.

2. **Migration Preparation**  
   - Execute pre-migration checks, validate target environments, schedule waves, and test automation scripts.

3. **Migration Execution**  
   - Build target databases, run migration jobs (using AMA or equivalent), monitor progress, and resolve errors.

4. **Cutover Activities**  
   - Manage final sync, switchover, activation, and post-cutover validation with application teams.

5. **Post-Migration & Handover**  
   - Validate performance and data consistency, support hypercare, decommission source systems, and handover documentation to operations.

- **Experience**: 7โ€“12+ years as an Enterprise DBA in large-scale environments.
- **Platforms**:  
  - Oracle (11g/12c/19c) including Exadata  
  - MS SQL Server (2016/2019/2022) on VMs

  - Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, RMAN  
  - SQL Server Always On, clustering, replication, backup/restore  
  - Migration tools (AMA or equivalent), scripting, automation
- **Soft Skills**: Strong communication, documentation (runbooks, reports), and cross-team coordination.
- **Additional**: Experience with ServiceNow, Jira, CMDB; familiarity with HA/DR, backup/recovery, and rollback strategies.
