Job description

SUMMARY: The Software Engineer Intern will support the development, testing, and maintenance of internal applications used by Football Operations. Working with the Software Development team and internal stakeholders, this role will gain hands-on experience with application development, system integrations, troubleshooting, and technical documentation in a fast-paced NFL environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Support the development and maintenance of internal applications by completing assigned coding tasks in accordance with technical specifications, development standards, and established timelines.
  2. Assist with application enhancements, workflow improvements, and small software projects under the direction and review of Software Development team members.
  3. Support the integration and maintenance of APIs, databases, and related backend services by completing assigned development, data validation, or documentation activities.
  4. Participate in application testing, debugging, and troubleshooting; document issues and test results and escalate unresolved problems to the appropriate team member.
  5. Assist with the migration, validation, and organization of data and workflows from legacy systems into centralized applications and platforms.
  6. Collaborate with software developers and Football Operations stakeholders to understand user workflows, gather feedback, and support improvements to application functionality and usability.
  7. Participate in code reviews, development discussions, and team learning opportunities to build knowledge of software design, application architecture, source control, testing, and deployment practices.
  8. Create and maintain clear technical documentation for assigned applications, integrations, workflows, testing activities, and development processes.
  9. Support process improvement and automation initiatives by researching options, documenting findings, and contributing defined technical solutions under supervision.
  10. Special projects and assignments as business dictates.
  11. Responsible for the maintenance, creation and control of all personally identifiable information or any other information protected by any Confidentiality or Privacy Standards or Company Policies that you have access or knowledge of, including but not limited to any state or federal regulations including HIPAA.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONs
  • Bachelor's degree or currently pursuing one in Computer Science, Engineering or related field required.
  • 0-2 years of professional software development experience required; prior internship, academic project, personal project, or other hands-on development experience preferred.
  • Foundational knowledge of one or more programming languages or development technologies, such as Python, JavaScript, React, Ruby, or similar technologies.
  • Familiarity with relational databases and SQL concepts.
  • Exposure to source control tools such as Git or GitLab.
  • Basic understanding of software development, testing, debugging, and troubleshooting concepts.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical learning skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a technical team and accept direction and feedback.
  • Ability to manage assigned projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interest in football operations, sports technology, analytics, or professional sports preferred.
