Job description

As a member of the Mask Technology Center (MTC) software engineering team, you will work directly with software developers, AI practitioners, and business stakeholders to build next-generation AI solutions that support semiconductor manufacturing operations. You will participate in the entire software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, solution design, coding, testing, deployment, and user feedback.
The Software Development Intern will work alongside Micron software engineers to design, develop, and deploy applications that improve engineering productivity and operational efficiency. This role provides hands-on experience with modern software development, large language models (LLMs), agentic workflows, data integration, and application development. The intern will contribute to a meaningful project aligned with Micron's AI transformation initiatives while learning industry standards in software engineering, collaboration, and manufacturing technology.
By the end of the internship, the candidate will: Deliver a production-ready proof of concept or deployed AI solution. Demonstrate measurable productivity or efficiency improvements. Gain experience working within a professional software engineering team. Present project outcomes and recommendations to stakeholders. The internship culminates in delivering an AI-enabled software solution that demonstrates measurable business value.
Responsibilities
  • Develop software applications using modern programming languages and frameworks.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to design and implement AI-enabled solutions.
  • Work with LLM platforms, AI agents, and prompt engineering techniques.
  • Integrate applications with databases, APIs, and enterprise systems.
  • Participate in planning and code reviews.
  • Create technical documentation and user guides. Test, troubleshoot, and improve software quality and reliability.
  • Present project progress and final results to engineering and management teams.
  • Follow Micron security, privacy, and software development best practices.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a related field. Cannot graduate prior to September 2027.
  • Experience with Python, JavaScript, C#, or similar programming languages.
  • Familiarity with databases and SQL.
  • Knowledge of REST APIs and web services.
  • Understanding of software development concepts and version control systems such as Git.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Interest in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or large language models.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Experience with Generative AI platforms, Claude Code or GitHub Copilot, Agentic AI frameworks, Cloud services (Azure), Power Platform, Data analytics and visualization tools, Manufacturing or industrial systems
