Job description

Role Summary:
Client is seeking a part-time Full Stack WordPress Developer to assess its WordPress environment, recommend improvements, collaborate with Pantheon, and support the districts website ecosystem for design, reliability, performance, monitoring, security, and user experience. The environment includes 104 school websites, one public district website, and one staff-only website.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain WordPress multisite environment
Assess current sites and recommend improvements
Collaborate with SPS web services team and Pantheon
Support testing, deployment, release management, and uptime
Set up and tune monitoring tools such as ThousandEyes, New Relic, and SolarWinds
Configure and maintain WordPress CMS for performance and security
Maintain WordPress core, themes, and third-party plugins
Create, maintain, and back up databases
Support new feature development and troubleshooting
Work on integrations with third-party and enterprise systems
Ensure responsive design, cross-platform compatibility, and performance optimization
Support regular WordPress and plugin patching
Ensure WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility compliance
Provide reporting, status updates, performance measurement, and retrospectives.
Required Skills and Experience:
Proven experience as a full stack WordPress developer
At least 5 years of professional web development experience
Strong skills in PHP, JavaScript, jQuery, CSS, HTML5
Experience with Git
Experience with APIs and RESTful services
Strong understanding of WCAG / accessibility
Good project management, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
