A Database Developer Contractor needs strong SQL programming skills, experience with database design, and a solid understanding of relational and non-relational database systems, typically supported by a degree in computer science or information technology. Familiarity with tools like Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, and knowledge of ETL processes, as well as certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, are commonly required. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are vital soft skills for collaborating with clients and teams. These competencies are crucial for delivering scalable, secure, and efficient database solutions on time and within project requirements.

What does a Database Developer on a contract basis do?

A Database Developer on a contract basis is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining databases for organizations during a specified project or time period. They create and optimize database structures, write and test queries, and ensure data integrity and security. Contract Database Developers work independently or as part of a team to deliver solutions that meet client requirements, often focusing on tasks like performance tuning, troubleshooting, and implementing new features. Their role is project-based, so they may work with multiple clients over time.

Job description

Role Overview

Vision Technology Inc. (VTI) is seeking a high-energy, "hunter-mentality" Client Developer to spearhead our market expansion. Unlike traditional recruiting roles, you won't be searching for candidates—we already have the clinicians and the technology. Your mission is to find the "homes" for them.

You will be responsible for aggressively cold calling hospital administrators, Chief Medical Officers (CMOs), and HR Directors to secure Master Service Agreements (MSAs) and staffing contracts. You are the "tip of the spear" who opens doors and seals the deal.

Key Responsibilities

High-Volume Prospecting: Conduct 50+ outbound calls daily to hospitals, surgical centers, and government medical facilities to identify staffing shortages.

Strategic Pitching: Use our existing database of qualified physicians and clinicians as leverage to "sell-in" our services to facilities in need.

Contract Negotiation: Lead the negotiation of bill rates and contract terms, ensuring profitable margins for the company.

Relationship Management: Navigate hospital "gatekeepers" to reach key decision-makers (Medical Directors, Department Heads, and C-Suite).

Market Intelligence: Monitor industry trends and competitor activity to identify "hot" territories where medical staffing is in high demand.

Lead Management: Utilize our internal database and job sites to match active clinician availability with new hospital leads.

Required Skills & Qualifications

The "Hunter" DNA: Proven experience in cold calling and B2B sales (Healthcare Staffing or Locum Tenens experience is a major plus).

Closing Ability: A track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas and successfully "sealing the deal" on complex service contracts.

Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak confidently to high-level medical executives.

Persistence: High resilience and the ability to handle rejection while maintaining a positive, professional attitude.

Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, Bullhorn) and Microsoft Office.

What We Offer

Competitive Base Salary: $25.00 an hour based on experience, up to 25 hours a week, plus commission for signed contracts.

The "Head Start": Access to a robust, pre-vetted database of clinicians and established job-posting platforms—you have the product; you just need to sell it.

Growth Potential: Opportunities to move into leadership as we scale our Client Development department.

Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Contract Volume: Number of new MSAs signed per month.

Order Generation: Number of new "Open Needs" or job orders secured from facilities.

Outbound Activity: Consistent daily/weekly call volume and follow-ups.
