Job description

Job Title: Senior Database Administrator (Oracle Specialist)
Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Database Administrator (DBA) - III to provide high-level technical support, architecture design, and problem management for critical, complex enterprise databases. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of our data infrastructure-including complex installations, customizations, proactive tuning, and strict security administration. You will collaborate on strategic infrastructure planning, formulate requirements for new database systems, and leverage automation to optimize system delivery. The ideal candidate is an expert in Oracle high-availability environments who applies a disciplined risk-management approach to system changes.
Key Responsibilities
Database Infrastructure & High Availability
• Installation & Configuration: Lead complex installation, configuration, patching, and customization of the Oracle Relational Database Management System (RDBMS).
• Cluster Management: Administer and troubleshoot Oracle Clusterware (CRS) concepts, configurations, and complex multi-node environments.
• Disaster Recovery: Configure and maintain Data Guard environments; execute seamless switchovers and failovers to ensure maximum uptime and zero data loss.
• Strategic Architecture: Assist in long-term strategic planning, database design, and structure optimization; provide expert recommendations on functional and business requirements.
Operations, Performance & Security
• Performance Tuning: Perform advanced problem analysis for complex configurations, executing proactive database monitoring and deep-dive tuning to optimize critical workloads.
• Backup & Recovery: Own the backup and recovery mechanisms using RMAN, ensuring strict adherence to enterprise data protection policies.
• Security & Patching: Support Patch Set Update/Release Update (PSU/RU) patching; implement robust database security controls and manage access permissions.
• System Automation: Script and automate core Oracle functions using shell scripting and Ansible playbook deployment.
Project Delivery & Governance
• System Migration: Analyze existing database structures, formulate transition/implementation plans, and guide users through the adoption of upgraded systems.
• Risk Management: Apply a disciplined risk-management framework to all database decisions and system modifications to minimize organizational vulnerability.
• Collaborative Support: Partner with infrastructure teams (Linux/AIX, Unix, Storage, and Windows) to align database performance with hardware and network capacity.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Experience: Seasoned professional with deep, hands-on enterprise DBA experience and a comprehensive understanding of core database principles.
• Technical Mastery:
oExpert-level knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL, database packages, and relational structures.
oIn-depth experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) administration.
oPractical knowledge of Linux/AIX systems administration, network protocols, and enterprise storage arrays.
oIntermediate-level proficiency with Ansible for configuration management and automation.
• Soft Skills:
