Senior PostgreSQL DBA (AWS Cloud & Migration Specialist)
Oakland, CA-Hybrid
6 months+ contract

Position Summary:

  • We are seeking an experienced Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator with 12+ years of database administration experience to Migrate and support mission-critical database environments across on-premises and AWS cloud platforms.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for the administration, performance tuning, security, backup and recovery, high availability, automation, and migration of PostgreSQL databases.
  • This role requires deep expertise in PostgreSQL database administration along with strong hands-on experience in AWS services, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), AWS CLI automation, monitoring, and large-scale database migration initiatives, including Oracle to AWS RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL ,sqlserver to AWS RDS/Aurora PostgresSQL and On-Premises PostgreSQL to AWS RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL.
  • The successful candidate will work closely with application teams, infrastructure teams, cloud architects, and project stakeholders to ensure highly available, secure, and performant database environments.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
  • 12+ years of Database Administration experience.
  • 8+ years of PostgreSQL Database Administration experience.
  • 5+ years of AWS & Azuew cloud database administration experience.
  • Strong experience managing mission-critical production databases.
  • Proven experience with PostgreSQL upgrades, migrations, and performance tuning.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
