MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Journeyman Data Engineer to join our team in Doral, FL.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain secure distributed data pipelines to ingest, transform, and integrate structured and unstructured multi-source intelligence and operational data.
  • Build and execute complex data extraction, cleansing, transformation, and replication processes to convert raw, disparate datasets into unified, high-performing database formats.
  • Administer, query, and optimize SQL databases data lakes, and enterprise data repositories to ensure maximum data integrity and low-latency accessibility.
  • Enforce strict data quality standards and metadata management practices, diagnosing and resolving data corruption or synchronization anomalies swiftly.
  • Partner with infrastructure engineers, cloud engineers, AI developers, and operational planners to deliver tailored data sets that support advanced analytics and automated workflows.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of professional experience
  • 2 or more years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or software development—ideally within a Department of Defense (DoD), federal agency, or defense contractor framework.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
    • An Associate's degree with an additional 2 years of experience may be considered.
    • A High School Diploma combined with additional 4 years of experience may be considered.
  • Strong proficiency with one or more programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python).
  • Deep expertise in SQL and managing relational/non-relational enterprise databases.
  • Experience with data pipelining or orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Apache NiFi, AWS Glue).
  • Must possess an active DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+, or equivalent) or have the ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting data initiatives at a DoD Combatant Command (e.g., USSOUTHCOM) or working within dual unclassified/classified network architectures (NIPR/SIPR).
  • Proficiency with Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux)
  • Experience working with Git.
  • Hands-on experience with data lake or data lakehouse architectures (e.g., Apache Iceberg).
  • Experience with containerization and container-based deployment (e.g., Docker, Podman).
  • Hands-on experience with big data technologies and streaming frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark, Kafka).
  • Familiarity with cloud data services (AWS GovCloud or Microsoft Azure Government).
  • Experience configuring data pipelines to feed AI/ML engines or advanced data visualization tools.

Clearance Requirement:

  • Must have a current/active Secret security clearance.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.
  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and military customers, which may involve technical presentations or briefings. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
