Position Summary / Career Interest:
The position oversees advanced design in the development of new enterprise level data and data warehouse systems; develop and promote technical processes and best practices; assist in directing activities necessary to complete major data architect solutions. Position requires a wide variety of technical data management and design skills and expertise; and the ability to consult with and provide guidance to numbers of data architects, database administrators, and data engineers of varying levels and experience. Understands business needs to architect, design, and implement enterprise data solutions that solve business and technology problems. Stays abreast of emerging data technologies and is viewed as a thought leader in advanced data architectural designs; influences technology and solution roadmaps for the enterprise data needs and strategic planning.
Provide enterprise level thought & technical leadership in helping major projects; process development; source control methodologies; and data solution architecture. Utilize breadth of knowledge across all technology & domains to provide design recommendations with a goal of innovation and cutting edge approach. Support long-term scalable enterprise data strategy with the evolution of new technologies while also advocating for standardization. Facilitate technical discussions that lead to alignment behind the organizations recommendations and goals.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
  • Design and implement organization, management, and standardization of enterprise data.
  • Lead in the definition and architecture of data as related to the hospital system.
  • Provide innovative uses of data and information to drive improved patient care, productivity, and operational efficiency, increased departmental agility, and higher performance.
  • Perform a key management and thought leadership in the areas of advanced data techniques, including data modeling, data access, data integration, data visualization, text mining, data discovery, statistical methods, database design and implementation of all levels of the enterprise.
  • Mentor all levels of data engineers; lead design sessions; conduct regular data training sessions in data management techniques and adherence to best practices.
  • Establishes and document standards and guidelines for data design & development, tuning, deployment and maintenance of information, advanced data analytics, and text mining models and physical data persistence technologies.
  • Measure, monitor, and recommend advanced data architecture techniques to increase the robustness, performance, and scalability of enterprise data systems.
  • Responsible for the evaluation, design, and recommendation of enterprise data infrastructure needs and requirements.
  • Responsible for the design of logical data models, physical data base design, and integrity of the Data warehouse, ODS, semantic data layer(s), and Data Mart.
  • Effectively communicate technical information and techniques to a non-technical audiences including senior leadership.
  • 7 plus years' experience in Data Warehousing with 3 years as a Data Architect.
  • Knowledgeable with ETL technologies SSIS, Python, and/or Data Integrator; Experience with two or more BI tools such as SAP Business Objects, Tableau, PowerPivot, QlikView, SAS.
  • Knowledge of advanced Data Architecture concepts, logical and physical database modeling, methods, and strategies.
  • Advanced knowledge in database performance tuning, methodologies, and techniques; Advanced knowledge of activities within primary discipline such as master Data management (MDM) and Data Governance (DG).
  • Must be a self-starter and should be able to initiate, prioritize, and complete assignments with little to no supervision.
  • Experience with a variety of data formats to access, import, extract, transform, and transfer or load data.
  • Knowledgeable and promoter of Agile Methodologies and processes.
  • Experience working with EPIC data and Clarity, working with data in complex healthcare environments is a plus.
  • Demonstrates expertise in database building, maintenance, and reporting.
  • Proficiency with PL-SQL, SQL Server configuration, T-SQL, Big Data.
  • Must be flexible to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment and accountability.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
