Job Description:

The Senior Infrastructure & Edge Computing Engineer will be responsible for architecting, deploying, and maintaining secure, resilient, and scalable edge computing and storage infrastructure across more than 20 global edge sites. This role supports large-scale data storage, analytics, and infrastructure operations while ensuring high availability, security, and performance across distributed environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect, deploy, and maintain edge computing and storage infrastructure across 20+ global edge sites.

  • Design, implement, and maintain secure VPN connectivity between edge locations and centralized compute and storage hubs.

  • Manage and optimize storage technologies including SAN, NAS, object storage, and related platforms.

  • Configure, administer, and maintain networking, server hardware, and software in Windows and Linux environments.

  • Lead and coordinate geographically dispersed teams to ensure consistent deployment, operation, and maintenance of edge infrastructure.

  • Manage and support storage environments handling over 10TB of binary data annually per site and approximately 200TB of total raw data across all locations.

  • Support the integration, deployment, and operation of internally developed software tools used for aircraft data analytics.

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance automation tools and scripts using Python and PowerShell.

  • Identify opportunities to improve business processes, enhance technical capabilities, and reduce operational costs.

  • Develop and present business proposals supporting continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiencies.

  • Create acquisition and spending plans to support infrastructure expansion, maintenance, and technology refresh efforts.

  • Ensure data integrity, availability, security, and compliance across storage and compute environments.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure, networking, storage, and server-related issues.

  • Provide after-hours support as required to maintain critical system availability and performance.

  • Develop and maintain architecture documentation, system configurations, and operational procedures.

Required Skills:

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • 9+ years of experience designing and maintaining secure, resilient, and distributed infrastructure environments supporting 20+ sites.

  • Experience with enterprise storage technologies including SAN, NAS, and object storage platforms.

  • Strong understanding of networking principles, routing, switching, and secure VPN technologies.

  • Experience configuring and managing Windows and Linux server environments.

  • Proficiency in Python and PowerShell scripting for automation, deployment, and maintenance activities.

  • Experience developing infrastructure acquisition plans, budgets, and spending forecasts.

  • Knowledge of edge computing architectures and distributed storage solutions.

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and technical documentation skills.

  • Experience supporting aerospace, engineering, or large-scale data analytics environments.

  • Ability and willingness to provide support outside normal business hours when required.

Preferred Skills:

  • Industry certifications such as SNIA, NetApp, EMC, CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or similar.

  • Experience with additional automation and scripting technologies.

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for distributed infrastructure environments.

  • Experience identifying process improvement opportunities and developing supporting business proposals.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams.

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and operational excellence.

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and 9 or more years of related experience, Master's degree with 7 or more years of related experience, or PhD with 4 or more years of related experience. Bachelor, Master, or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry.
