We have an opportunity for a Data Solutions Architect focused on Integration Data Architecture. This person will join a team of experienced technologists responsible for designing, building, and supporting the integration and data ecosystem across our services landscape - including platforms supporting eCommerce, CRM, Supply Chain, Sourcing, CORE, VFI, and various third-party integrations. In this role, you'll use your technical expertise to design scalable integration data solutions that support our broader data strategy, governance, and infrastructure. You'll partner closely with engineers, business analysts, and other architects to solve integration challenges and help guide future architecture decisions.
We're looking for someone who brings strong ownership and leadership, can serve as a go-to resource for engineering teams, and is comfortable working both independently and cross-functionally across the organization.
Location: This role is approved to be either Remote within the United States or Hybrid for associates in Newport News, VA, in accordance with company policy.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work with business customers, leadership, and product owners to understand the integration data needs for shared and channel services engineering.
  • Enforce data governance policies, standards, and best practices to maintain data quality and compliance.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of data architecture, data models, and integration processes, ensuring they are always visible to all parties.
  • Influence data owners, modelers, engineers, and analysts to recommend solutions that support a strategic and broad approach to data integration and management.
  • Define integration data flows, i.e., which parts of the organization generate data, which require data to function, how data flows are managed, and how data changes in transition.
  • Design sophisticated data models, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and performance.
  • Ensure data security and compliance with data privacy regulations.
  • Stay ahead of emerging data technologies and make recommendations for adoption to enhance integration data architecture.
  • Collaborate internally and across departments with peers to deliver products/solutions that align to Ferguson's strategic vision.
  • Prepare detailed design specifications from which programs/applications/configurations will be implemented.
  • End-to-end ownership of solutions, ensure accuracy and completeness of solution by having recurring check points / audit loops with technical implementation teams.
  • Responsible for analyzing and troubleshooting complex problems and providing solutions to overcome those problems using the newest technologies.
  • Complete architectural reviews of projects.
  • Complete design and code reviews.
  • Review team practices to identify areas of improvement.
  • Work with vendors to resolve 3rd level support or project issues.

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in information technology, computer science or related field preferred.
  • Must have at least 4+ years of hands-on experience working in data integrations with a breadth of knowledge and experience on how integrations work within and across different business domains.
  • Developed innovative architectural designs for large commercial Enterprises (5000+ Associates) with complex integrations across various platforms and applications.
  • Expert level experience defining the system architecture, identifying gaps between current and desired end-states, and delivering comprehensive solutions that will achieve desired business outcomes.
  • Hands on experience with integration as it relates to data constructs is a plus, especially as it relates to designing and developing data transformations.
  • Knowledge of MongoDB, Oracle RDBMS, Java and Webservices is preferred.

Skills Required / Desired
The ideal candidate will need to have good technical skills and experience to include the following:
  • Strong capabilities to analyze and lead the design of sophisticated IT projects, focusing on interdependencies between applications whilst addressing the overall business needs.
  • Excels at overlaying customer visions, goals of projects, and requirements of various functional IT departments.
  • Solid understanding of IT infrastructure components (hardware, software, network, operating systems, storage) and Cloud platforms components (SaaS, PaaS and IaaS).
  • Comfortable with leading designs outside of comfort zone - learning new technologies whilst contributing to strategic requirements.
  • Good knowledge of IT disciplines, e.g., software applications and interfaces, production operations, quality assurance, systems management, etc.
  • Solid understanding of application development lifecycles, to include: waterfall and agile methodologies and understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience researching and evaluating commercial IT Products and Solutions.
  • Foundational knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Oracle RDBMS and MongoDB.
  • Excellent written, oral, instructional, presentation, and interpersonal skills focused on motivation and positive demeanor with ability to effectively engage and motivate large groups.
  • Must be self-motivated, proactive, creative, and efficient in identifying issues with strong analytical and problem-solving skills with particular attention to detail.
  • Must be collaborative in decision making and facilitate working to consensus to gain agreement when proposing solutions or taking ownership.
  • Ability to create technical design documents with presentations using Microsoft Visio and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work in a remote collaborative environment.

$5,444.76 - $9,537.00
Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.
This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.
