Role Summary

A senior data scientist is responsible for leading the development and integration of advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning models within enterprise data platforms. This position requires technical expertise in designing scalable data pipelines, implementing data governance standards, and providing strategic guidance to enhance data-driven decision-making across mission-critical projects. The role offers an opportunity to influence data infrastructure, facilitate secure data sharing, and leverage emerging analytics technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy advanced AI/ML models and statistical algorithms to enhance enterprise data capabilities.
  • Build and optimize robust, automated data pipelines, ETL/ELT workflows, and analytical services for operational use.
  • Enforce data governance standards, security protocols, and enterprise data management policies across all data assets.
  • Develop secure, reusable data products to support interdepartmental decision-support applications.
  • Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to accelerate modernization efforts, minimize technical debt, and ensure system resilience.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, government agencies, and commercial partners to facilitate seamless data sharing and interoperability.
  • Research emerging analytics and AI/ML technologies to support strategic initiatives aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Ensure all data models and services comply with federal security and government baseline standards, including DISA STIGs.
  • Document analytical workflows and manage project tasks using enterprise tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts in data management practices and technological deployments within a hybrid working environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma with 9+ years of relevant experience or equivalent.
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE, CySA+, CCNA Security).
  • Proven experience developing and deploying enterprise-level machine learning models utilizing Python.
  • Strong background in building large-scale data pipelines, API frameworks, and cloud-based analytical environments.
  • Comprehensive understanding of data governance, data architecture principles, and secure data management practices.
  • Proficiency in SQL and modern big data technologies for manipulating complex datasets.
  • Experience with tracking and documenting workflows using tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
  • Foundational knowledge of enterprise virtualization, cloud architecture, geospatial services, and network boundaries.
  • This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required.

Publishing Pay Range: $63.00 - $68.00 Hourly

This is a hybrid position and can be performed from an approved location.
