Job Summary:
Nelo is a leading consumer fintech and e-commerce platform in Mexico, and they are seeking a Data Scientist to build decision engines for credit access in emerging markets. The role involves designing causal inference models, creating algorithms for credit pricing, and leading ML infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities:
• Solve the "Why," not just the "What": You will design and deploy causal inference models to drive our underwriting and portfolio management strategies.
• Build the Core Engine: You will create and refine the algorithms for credit pricing, personalization, and ranking.
• Own the Infrastructure: You won't just hand off a Jupyter notebook to an engineer. You will lead ML infrastructure projects, ensuring observability and operational excellence for the models you build.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Strong academic background (PhD preferred)
• Deep theoretical roots in classification, forecasting, and optimization
• At least 5 years of experience applying theoretical knowledge in a production environment
• Proficient in writing production-grade Python
• Proficient in SQL
• Ability to balance intellectual rigor with the need to execute
