The Department of Biostatistics & Data Science at the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) is partnering with The University of Kansas Cancer Center (KUCC) to invite applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Statistical Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Biomedical Data Science. The incumbent will establish and maintain external funding while collaborating with investigators across KUMC's nationally recognized research centers and institutes. The incumbent will join a collaborative department with internationally recognized expertise in biostatistics, statistical omics, bioinformatics, Bayesian methodology, clinical trials, and data science, and will have opportunities to collaborate with investigators across the University of Kansas Cancer Center, Kansas Institute for Precision Medicine, Frontiers Clinical and Translational Science Institute, the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center and the newly established Enhanced Artificial Intelligence Center for Human-Focused Research. In addition to developing an innovative research program, the faculty member will contribute to the Department's educational mission through excellence in teaching and mentoring graduate students in biostatistics, data science, and related disciplines.Job Description:
Job Duties
  • Develop and maintain external funding in statistical artificial intelligence and biomedical data science.
  • Develop novel statistical and AI methodologies motivated by important biomedical problems.
  • Collaborate with KUCC investigators, as well as investigators across KUMC's research centers and institutes.
  • Teach graduate courses in biostatistics, statistics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science.
  • Participate in the mentoring of graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and staff.
  • Participate in departmental, institutional, and professional service activities.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives involving the Enhanced Artificial Intelligence Center for Human-Focused Research and other interdisciplinary programs across KUMC.
