Job description

Hive Group, a HUBZone-certified SDVOSB and multiple award-winning organization, delivers innovative solutions to address complex, mission critical program challenges for the federal government.
We are seeking a Data Scientist as part of a bid process associated with a Statement of Work. This role supporting USCIS focuses on transforming complex immigration data into actionable intelligence for decision-makers. This level requires the ability to work under limited supervision, often bridging the gap between raw data and executive briefings. Candidates are encouraged to submit their information and resumes highlighting their relevant experience.
Position Responsibilities
  • Design and implement predictive models to identify trends in benefit requests, potential fraud indicators, or national security vulnerabilities.
  • Utilize the USCIS Data Lake to aggregate, clean, and analyze structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise-level dashboards (e.g., using Tableau or Power BI) to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics.
  • Translate highly technical analytical findings into clear, non-technical recommendations for agency senior leadership and interagency partners.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Information Technology (OIT) to evaluate new tools and ensure data integration between disparate DHS systems.
  • Must be able to work ON-SITE with the customer or at the Hive Group HQTRS in McLean VA.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant progressive experience in Data Science
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics or Computer Science is required; A Master's degree in these areas is preferred.
  • Certified Senior Data Scientist certification or similar is highly desirable.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python, R, or SQL is mandatory for querying and integrating complex datasets.
  • Mastery of regression, forecasting, hypothesis testing, and machine learning techniques.
  • Experience with agency-specific systems for identity management and immigration status verification.
  • Expertise in preprocessing, feature engineering, and cleaning large-scale, high-dimensional federal datasets.
