Job Summary
The Senior Manager Data Science - Marketing leads unified marketing measurement across Marketing, Loyalty, and CRM, helping teams understand and optimize the incremental impact of marketing investments. This role oversees a team of data scientists responsible for marketing mix modeling, attribution, incremental lift analysis, experimentation, campaign and creative measurement, and audience-level analytics. The Senior Manager integrates large, complex datasets and translates advanced analyses into clear, actionable recommendations that improve customer engagement, optimize marketing effectiveness, accelerate growth, and strengthen loyalty. As a strategic partner to cross-functional leaders and senior executives, this role shapes measurement strategy, influences investment decisions, and builds scalable analytical capabilities across the organization.
Job Responsibilities
  • Provides management and guidance to multiple groups of data scientists and data analysts to implement the companies data science strategy.
  • Manages efforts of others in the achievement of the strategic and operational objectives. Leads the area to ensure performance standards and all goals and objectives are met in a timely and organized fashion.
  • Manages complex data gathering and integrating large volumes of data, performing analysis, interpreting results and developing actionable insights and recommendations for use across the company. Research techniques may include statistical modeling, visualization, machine learning, and data mining.
  • Makes recommendations regarding the operating plans for specified area, then, based on prevailing conditions may realign the daily operations.
  • Plans and structures work activities for teams and monitors progress and results. May develop briefs for outside vendors and manages their relationship.
  • Provides guidance and supervision to teams as they carry out work activities. Recruits and develops staff within area of responsibility in accordance with policy. May manage vendors engaged in big data analysis.
  • Influences individuals within and outside the department. Prepares and presents reports to all levels of leadership and staff.
  • May develop budget for functional area. Manages budget to plan and is responsible for meeting delivering against budgetary goals and objectives.
  • Stays abreast of industry leading best practices and brings them to the attention of the leadership team for innovative application.
  • Develops and leverages partnerships (and relationships) with internal and external stakeholders to meet business needs.
  • Oversees and manages managers, supervisors and individual contributors. Allocates available resources to meet operating objectives. Ensures the ongoing training and development of direct reports.
  • Develops and mentors staff through onboarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes builds and maintains employee morale and motivation ensures the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace.

External Basic Qualifications
  • Master's degree in statistics, data science, mathematics, economics OR a quantitative, computational or technical discipline AND at least 4 years of post-graduate professional work experience in a statistical function.
  • Experience in data science, advanced analytics, or statistics. Ability to interrogate data, perform analyses, interpret data, and present to business audiences.
  • Deep knowledge of SQL
  • Deep knowledge of open source data science and statistics packages such as Python, R, Spark, etc.
  • Experience with Analytics Strategy development.
  • Experience interacting at the executive level
  • Experience leading cross functional teams.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining key relationships with internal (peers, business partners and leadership) and external (business community, clients and vendors) within a matrix organization to develop strategies that meet department goals within budget and timelines.
  • At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace
  • At least 3 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership or cross functional team leadership
  • Willing to travel up to 10 percent of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in statistics, economics, data science, applied mathematics, computer science, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Experience leading marketing analytics, measurement, or data science teams.
  • Expertise in marketing mix modeling, attribution, experimentation, causal inference, and incremental lift analysis.
  • Experience measuring CRM, loyalty, audience, campaign, content, and creative performance.
  • Experience partnering with external media agencies, measurement providers, and marketing technology vendors to deliver insights and improve marketing effectiveness.
  • Proficiency with analytical tools and languages such as Python, R, SQL, and cloud-based data platforms.
