The Analytical Instruments Group (AIG) at Thermo Fisher Scientific provides a broad portfolio of instruments, software, and services that support a wide range of laboratory, production, and field applications. DESCRIPTION
The Materials Planner II role is a visible position at the Madison, WI site. You will be a key contact in Madison related to communication to the site and scheduling the ship plan, including maintenance in SAP. This position will be collaborating with team members in Supply Chain - Buyers, Supply Planner and Inventory Control personnel, Product Management, Manufacturing Engineering and Operations, R & D, Sales, Service and other Thermo Fisher sites around the world.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
  • Be a primary point of contact for the Madison site related to reviewing and scheduling orders through SAP for assigned product lines to support the ship plan and related communications. This includes finished products, accessories, spares, and any other approved material ship plans in SAP.
  • Will be a Key contributor to On Time To Promise (OTTP) goals for the Madison Wi site.
  • Escalate and maintain timely information related to any part shortages and communicate impact dates within Operations.
  • Support timely and accurate inventory control related to the ship plan, including support of cycle counts and any needed SAP inventory transactions.
  • Provide clear, timely information and responses to internal customers.
  • Process and collaborate on Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) that are assigned related to your product lines.
  • Provide input and support proper SAP planning parameters to support inventory goals and timely customer delivery dates.
  • Create and/or maintain documentation and Standard Operating Procedures related to your responsibilities.
  • Use and support on-site database troubleshooting as needed.
  • Collaborate across functions to solve Supply Chain challenges.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor's Degree with minimum 2 years of experience OR Associate's Degree with 3.5-5 years OR HS/GED with 5+ years in planning or supply chain, preferred in a related manufacturing environment
• Preferred Fields of Study: Supply Chain Management and/or Industrial Engineering in related field.
• APICS certification preferred.
• Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification preferred.
• Experience in ERP/MRP systems (SAP preferred, Oracle, JDE or similar).
• Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and data analysis tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities for inventory optimization and planning.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• English language proficiency required, additional languages beneficial.
• Knowledge of inventory management principles and supply chain best practices.
• Experience with Practical Process Improvement (PPI) methodologies.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
• Self-directed with strong organizational and time management skills.
• Knowledge of ISO or other relevant quality standards preferred.
