IDSS: BRIDGE is a National Center to Democratize Multi-Disciplinary Data Science and AI for Research Labs and Communities and is a center in the Department of Computer Science at the University of California, Irvine is a core academic unit within the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences (ICS), one of the nation's early independent schools dedicated to computing. The department combines foundational computer science education with innovative research across a broad range of areas, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, algorithms and theory, databases and information systems, computer architecture, embedded and cyber-physical systems, computer vision and graphics, programming languages and compilers, networking and distributed systems, security and privacy, biomedical computing, accessible computing, and computer science education.
The department serves more than 2,000 undergraduate students through a curriculum that emphasizes mathematical and computational foundations, lifelong learning, and practical experience. Students can select from extensive upper-division offerings and participate in capstone projects, faculty-led research, internships, and other experiential-learning opportunities. At the graduate level, the department offers research-oriented M.S. and Ph.D. programs, with the Computer Science Ph.D. program enrolling more than 250 students and representing the largest doctoral program at UC Irvine.

Your Role on the Team
We are seeking a driven, resourceful, and highly adaptable Project Manager (PM) to lead the operations of a fast-paced, geographically dispersed research center dedicated to advancing open scientific computing and data science infrastructure. The ideal candidate is a go-getter who stays on top of multiple priorities, keeps things moving smoothly, and can wear many hats - from managing logistics to engaging with diverse teams across academic institutions and research partners. This role requires someone who is action-oriented and thrives in a high-energy, deadline-driven environment where the ability to manage competing priorities and shift focus quickly is essential to success.
This is a mission-driven role suited for a professional who thrives at the intersection of research, technology, and community engagement - someone who can manage complexity, foster cross-institutional relationships, and keep distributed teams aligned and moving forward.
The PM will function as the operational backbone of the Center, working closely with the Principal Investigator (PI), research partners, stakeholders, and technical staff to ensure the seamless execution of the Center's activities and strategic goals. They will be supported by a project coordinator role.

Required:
  • Academic background and experience in selected area of research preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of administrative, budgetary, human resources and financial principles and practices.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong ability to think creatively and independently on concepts requiring advanced analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups to achieve results.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $88,000/year- $106,400.00/year (Annual).
