This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Program Integrity (CPI), Division of Investigative &Bus Analytics (DIBA).
As a Data Scientist, GS-1560-13, you will serve as a senior advisor as well as lead a cross-functional teams composed of professionals skilled in policy analysis, information technology, data engineering, and project management disciplines, in order to develop data-driven solutions.Qualifications:

GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include:
- Developing and applying analytical models or algorithms using advanced programming languages to analyze complex datasets for the purpose of detecting fraud, waste and abuse; AND
- Communicating highly technical complex analytical findings to multiple audiences through written reports or oral presentations; AND
- Providing advice or guidance to management on establishing or enhancing standard procedures for data collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting.
Substitution of Education for Experience: There is no substitution of education to meet the specialized experience requirement at the GS-13 grade level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.Education:
Education Requirement: In addition to meeting the qualification requirements, all candidates must have the following educational requirements: Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.
-OR-Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.
