Job description

We offer a competitive salary for this role, with an expected range of $110,100 to $139,500. The final offer will depend on your experience, skills, and overall qualifications. We are seeking an experienced  to support, maintain, and optimize our enterprise database environment. The ideal candidate has deep experience with Oracle 12c/19c (or newer) and understands enterprise data management best practices. This role will work closely with infrastructure, application development, data engineering, and business teams to ensure database reliability, availability, and performance.

Operating under the BIW Business Operating System (BOS), the Oracle Database Administrator ensures compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards while coordinating with other key stakeholders to meet overall milestones.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety Leadership:
    • Be a safety leader for your team and help foster a culture of operational safety.
    • Ensure all safety training is completed on time.
  • Project Execution:
    • Administer, maintain, and support Oracle databases across development, test, and production environments.
    • Perform installation, configuration, patching, cloning, backup, and recovery using RMAN and related tools.
    • Monitor database performance and execute tuning activities.
    • Implement and maintain high availability solutions including RAC and ASM.
    • Manage database security, user access, roles, and compliance with company standards.
    • Design and implement backup/restore strategies and lead disaster recovery planning.
    • Support schema design, data modeling, and SQL code reviews.
    • Maintain documentation, SOPs, and architectural diagrams.
    • Participate in on-call rotations and support critical incidents.
  • Training and Development:
    • Take part in training to further working knowledge of new database management tools and methodologies.
    • Attend BIW training opportunities as required.
  • Team Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate with application teams to troubleshoot issues and optimize SQL queries.
    • Communicate effectively across application and data engineering functions.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify and implement database management process improvements and optimizations as required.

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.   

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field.

Required:

  • 5–10 years of hands-on Oracle DBA experience in a production environment.
  • Expertise with Oracle versions 12c and 19c.
  • Proficiency with RMAN, ASM, OEM/Cloud Control.
  • Strong database performance optimization and tuning skills.
  • Understanding of Oracle enterprise management best practices.
  • Solid understanding of Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.
  • Experience with backup strategies and disaster recovery planning.
  • Familiarity with PL/SQL, SQL query tuning, and schema design.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills. 

Preferred Oracle Experience:

  • Experience with Oracle Cloud (OCI) or cloud-hosted Oracle workloads.
  • Experience with enterprise data warehouses.
  • Understanding of DevOps pipelines, CI/CD, and Git workflows.
  • Experience supporting ERP or other enterprise applications.
  • Oracle certifications (OCA, OCP, OCM).
  • Experience with SQL Server 2019, 2022, 2025.
