Data Science Intern Jobs in Medford, OR (NOW HIRING)

Primary Purpose

Assist in the care and treatment of youth and young adults with psychiatric needs by providing a consistent presence, skills training, and emotional support in a safe and secure manner.

Education and Experience

A combination of three years' experience that can be cumulative and include academic credits in a behavioral science field, work experience in a Human Service/Mental Health field, and/or volunteer work in a related field.

The person must:

• Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program for a bachelor's degree in psychology, social work or in a behavioral science field.
• Have a collaborative educational agreement with Kairos and their academic program.
• Work within the scope of their practice and competencies identified by the policies and procedures for credentialing of clinical staff.
• Register as a QMHA-R on the Mental Health & Addictions Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO) registry or be working to meet QMHA registration requirements.
• Receive, at minimum, bi-weekly supervision by a qualified clinical supervisor employed by Kairos.

Minimum Qualifications

• Provide proof of current, valid Oregon Driver's License (or if out-of-state will obtain Oregon license within 30 days), comprehensive automobile insurance (if applicable) and a safe driving record (minimum of 3 yrs.) to use company or personal vehicle for required duties.
• Successfully pass a Criminal Background Check and Medicaid Fraud Check.
• Obtain and Maintain Children's Emergency Safety Intervention Specialist (CESIS) certification if not licensed.
• Obtain and maintain current CPI Verbal De-escalation Certification.
• Obtain and maintain current First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
• Obtain a Food Handlers Card.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Core Competencies

• Shadow, observe, and learn how to coordinate skills training and other clinically indicated services for youth, young adults, and families in conjunction with assigned team members.
• Learn to establish rapport by demonstrating and maintaining clear, consistent, appropriate, and therapeutic boundaries.
• Demonstrate alignment with the philosophy of Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) by utilizing the approaches in interactions with youth and young adults, families, staff, and community partners.
• Interact with youth and young adults in the collaboratively agreed upon treatment space (i.e., community, school, home, office, etc.), in partnership with assigned team members, to maintain safety and provide treatment services.
• Demonstrate knowledge of youth and young adults' development and group dynamics by adjusting therapeutic approaches to developmental level and group interactions.
• Assist in transportation for appointments and activities where clinically indicated and collaboratively agreed upon, in collaboration with assigned team members.
• Partner to co-facilitate individual and group skills training and coaching within skill areas including but not limited to independent living/self-sufficiency, wellness, education, coping skills, navigating medical appointments, and community engagement.
• Partner with assigned team members to safely de-escalate youth and young adults, including in crisis situations, by effectively using verbal intervention skills and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) approved de-escalation methods.
• Learn how to concisely and thoroughly document daily clinical information in a timely and accurate manner to meet billing requirements. Must adhere to Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR) and standards of care.
• Abide by ethical codes, mission, values, and professional standards, including confidentiality.
• Actively utilize, reference, and follow agency policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Present a positive attitude, professional demeanor and demonstrated respect with youth and young adults, families, staff, visitors, and community partners.
• Perform all work tasks in a proper and safe manner per established policies, procedures, and guidelines to prevent unnecessary injury, time loss and agency expense.
• Comply with all federal, state and agency health and safety reporting requirements.
