Overview

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Data Analytics Scientist/Intern to support the development of innovative In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) products for the Transfusion technology center. This role will focus on analyzing complex datasets involving assay performance, reagent performance and instrument performance which collectively can be used to generate insights in order to guide product development, and ensuring data integrity throughout the product lifecycle. The ideal candidate will bridge data science and research, contributing to evidence-based decision-making in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain data analysis tools, process and procedures for R&D projects related to IVD product development.
  • Analyze large-scale datasets (e.g., instrument-generated performance data, clinical data, instrument control data, etc) to identify linkages, trends, patterns, and performance characteristics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (scientists, engineers, clinicians, regulatory) to define data requirements and success criteria.
  • Perform statistical analyses to support development of IVD systems inclusive of determining validation of sensitivity, specificity, reproducibility, and robustness.
  • Develop and validate algorithms for data interpretation and diagnostic output.
  • Create clear visualizations, dashboards, and reports to communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485) in data handling, documentation, and traceability.
  • Contribute to design verification and validation (V&V) activities and support regulatory submissions.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of methodologies, code, and results in accordance with quality systems.
  • Stay current with advances in data science, bioinformatics, and IVD technologies.

Networking/Key relationships

  • Work closely with key stakeholders across all R&D disciplines as well as clinical operations, quality, regulatory, and instrument service & support.
Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge & Experience required for the position:

  • Master's or PhD student in Data Science, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience working with laboratory instruments or assay development data.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and data engineering workflows.
  • Experience with version control (e.g., Git) and reproducible research practices.

Skills & Capabilities:

  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or R.
  • Experience with statistical modeling, machine learning, and data visualization tools.
  • Familiarity with biological or clinical datasets.
  • Understanding of experimental design and statistical testing methods.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
