The Role

The MEP Senior Project Manager is responsible for managing, field inspections, problem solving, and coordinating all necessary Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Protection project resources and documentation throughout the entire project lifecycle. This includes the selection and management of MEP subcontractors, and the review, management, and administration of mechanical bid tabs/Exhibit Bs, MEP submittals, monthly MEP requisitions and change orders, and MEP contractor schedule/performance. 


  • Lead procurement, contracting, and management of MEP and Fire Protection subcontractors, including bid reviews, scope alignment, and subcontractor selection.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership of MEP trades to ensure safety, quality, schedule, and budget objectives are met.
  • Manage MEP cost controls, including review and approval of pay applications, change orders, and budget impacts.
  • Oversee MEP coordination efforts with Superintendents, BIM/VDC teams, designers, and trade partners to ensure constructability and schedule alignment.
  • Partner with architects, engineers, and consultants to resolve design and coordination challenges.
  • Lead MEP submittals, long-lead procurement, equipment delivery tracking, and field execution.
  • Oversee inspections, testing, commissioning, and life safety activities; coordinate with commissioning agents, AHJs, utilities, and third-party agencies.
  • Manage multi-trade integration scopes and ensure cross-discipline document coordination.
  • Drive MEP punch list completion, owner training, system turnover, and closeout documentation (as-builts, O&Ms, attic stock).
  • Represent the MEP scope in owner, subcontractor, and internal project meetings.

  • Bachelor of Science (technical/engineering degree) Mechanical, HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical and Fire protection
  • Minimum 10 years experience with Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Protection Systems
  • Excellent business judgment demonstrated by consistently achieving profitability objectives and strong project close-outs with client and subcontractor relationships in good standing
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail evidenced by a strong command of all applicable contract and legal provisions
  • Ability to consistently analyze and execute financial trade-offs which frequently involve dealing with incomplete data and ambiguity
  • Ability to constantly multi-task and handle competing priorities between Suffolk business needs, organizational issues, and sound customer relations
  • Possess judgment to know when to appropriately escalate issues up the chain of command
  • The ability to manage and embrace change. Respond and adapt to new processes and new ways of looking at old problems
  • A strong sense of urgency and initiative.  Able to quickly study and react to complex issues
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to confidently and decisively take action
  • Team leader with excellent diplomatic and communication skills, able to handle and resolve conflicts effectively in a firm but fair manner
