Job description

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Austin Texas or Warren Michigan 3 days per week (T-W-Th).

The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our innovative team at General Motors LLC. This role will be instrumental in leveraging advanced analytical techniques to drive data‑driven decision‑making and enhance various aspects of our automotive business.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex data science solutions to address business challenges.
  • Manage unstructured and multi‑structured data
  • Design, build, train, and deploy Generative AI and machine learning models to solve predictive and prescriptive problems across various domains.
  • Utilize advanced analytics techniques to forecast trends, identify risks, and optimize operational processes.
  • Create compelling and informative data visualizations to effectively communicate findings and recommendations to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and business teams to understand requirements and deliver impactful data science solutions.
  • Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the growth and development of the data science community within GM.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in data science or a related analytical role.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, Vector databases and similarity search engines.
  • Hands‑on experience with foundation models (LLMs) for structured reasoning tasks, RAG (Retrieval‑Augmented Generation) architecture and implementation, agentic framework design and multi‑agent system orchestration, Human‑in‑the‑loop (HITL) workflow design, etc.
  • Familiar with Kiro, Agent Strands, Bedrock AgentCore, Bedrock Knowledge Base.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply Predictive & Prescriptive Analytics to real‑world business problems.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast‑paced environment.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Automotive experience is a plus.
