They typically work under the guidance of more experienced data scientists and help build predictive models, generate reports, and provide insights to inform business decisions. This role often requires proficiency in programming languages like Python or R, familiarity with statistical methods, and strong problem-solving skills. Data Science Associates play a crucial part in transforming raw data into actionable information for organizations.

Job description

Information Technology - AI Internship – Summer 2027

The Best Experience Company

Our tagline is “The Best Experience Company.” More than just a set of words, it represents the essence of who we are at Springs Window Fashions. As North America’s premier window covering company, we’re committed to creating the Best Experience for our associates, consumers and end users, business partners, and communities. We want you to join our team of passionate self-starters who believe the world is full of Best Experience opportunities. So, if you’re excited about the thought of a Best Experience career with a team focused on creating Best Experiences for all, we want to hear from you!

Internship Overview

Springs Window Fashions is looking for a motivated and hardworking individual to join our Information Technology Team! This Intern would help build a repeatable system for measuring whether Springs' AI powered features are correct, and for catching quality regressions when the underlying model or prompt changes. This internship provides an exciting opportunity to assist the team with project support while providing valuable work experience related to your chosen field of study. Our paid internship program is known for having in-depth, challenging project work with cross-functional teams, as well as professional development, job shadowing and other growth opportunities.

Internship Responsibilities

  • AI Feature Validation Harness
    • Golden test sets (100–300 expert-reviewed cases per feature)
    • Scoring logic (deterministic checks + calibrated model-as-judge + human spot-check)
    • On-demand test runner, triggered manually or on model/prompt change
    • Trend dashboard (pass rate by category, over time, diff between runs)
    • Playbook for adding features and setting release gates
    • Named permanent owner and one live workflow gated by the suite

What Spring’s Best Experience Means for You

Springs Window Fashions offers incredible opportunities to develop the skills you’ll need to be successful in a fast-paced consumer products company. You’ll also be provided with several perks and benefits as a member of the Springs team:

  • Newly renovated corporate headquarters (including on-site fitness center)
  • Exposure to other roles and functions within SWF
  • Career advancement opportunities
  • Regular interaction with multiple functional areas and with others at all levels within the organization, from production to senior leadership
  • Paid on-the-job training; in-depth product knowledge sessions via online courses, live online classes, and live sessions

What We’re Looking For

  • Pursuing a 4-year degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field; Junior or Senior standing preferred
  • Previous internship or coursework involving data handling, scripting, or software development preferred
  • Working proficiency in Python (or a comparable scripting language) for building test cases and automation — this project is data/scripting-heavy, not a specialized ML role
  • Familiarity with, or willingness to quickly learn, SQL and basic data analysis concepts
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Strong problem-solving and structured, methodical thinking — the core of this role is designing test cases that actually catch failures, not just writing code
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort conducting structured interviews with non-technical Associates to extract precise workflow requirements — this is roughly 60% of the actual work and the top screening priority
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and an iterative, build-as-you-learn scope, rather than a fully pre-specified task list
  • Interest in AI/ML applications is a plus; prior AI/ML coursework is not required
  • Positive attitude, high attention to detail, and eagerness to learn Springs' business processes
