Job description

Qualifications:
โ€ข Four year college degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, or related field.
โ€ข 0-3 years experience working in a laboratory.
โ€ข Strong verbal and written communication skills.
โ€ข Excellent time management and ability to balance multiple projects at one time.
โ€ข Ability to understand and carry out standard laboratory techniques.
โ€ข Basic computer skills including intermediate ability to use Microsoft Excel.
โ€ข Formulating experience in consumer packaged goods and advanced knowledge of laundry and textiles and are a plus.
Responsibilities:
The Associate Scientist works closely with team of scientists and senior scientists to plan and perform laboratory assignments in the development of product formulations, measurement of physical properties, validation of performance and analysis of products. The individual draws conclusions based on data, proposes and directs next steps in the development plan and is responsible to drive development activities. The individual further functions as part of an integrated cross functional team.
โ€ข Execute experimental designs to optimize prototypes to meet desired performance metrics.
โ€ข Record detailed observations and data from experiments performed. Keep lab notebook records current and in good order as a working legal document.
โ€ข Draw preliminary conclusions and present to management.
โ€ข Contribute to the solution of assigned problems through development/modification of test procedures.
โ€ข Run standard and non-standard chemical, physical, or application tests to obtain data to evaluate composition of products.
โ€ข Check and maintains inventories of raw materials and supplies and maintain work spaces.
โ€ข Responsible for safe working conditions (handles dangerous equipment and hazardous chemicals). Is aware of hazards associated with work assigned, observes safe work practices, keeps equipment neat, clean and in safe operating condition, and maintains good housekeeping standards.
โ€ข Responsible for following all applicable Federal, State, and Local health, safety, and environmental regulations, as per corporate health, safety and environmental policies.
