***Full- Time Monday- Friday 8:30 A.M.- 4:30 P.M. Pay Range: $16.00-$19.00 Per Hour***

Summary/Primary Purpose: Provides case management utilizing The Salvation Army's Pathway of Hope philosophy. Under the supervision of the Corps Officer, works in partnership with clients and other community partners to provide needed services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete intake interviews with clients requesting material assistance and determine level of need as well as document need, situation, and assistance provided.
  • Counsel clients on available resources; explain procedures, rights, responsibilities and confidentiality.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential and detailed management files and referral materials.
  • As appropriate, enroll clients in appropriate Salvation Army programs or initiatives, and provide related coordinated and collaborative services with area social service agencies.
  • Complete Salvation Army statistics and maintain documents and other reporting requirements.
  • Responsible for maintaining inventory for material assistance; ordering supplies, and stocking inventory.
  • Educate and coordinate with community agencies about Salvation Army Social Services activities.
  • Make referrals for clients requesting services unavailable at The Salvation Army.
  • Maintain appropriate and consistent daily/weekly hours of operation of The Salvation Army office.
  • Responsible for answering phones, emails and other correspondence
  • Make bank deposits and scan invoices/deposit slips to DHQ accounting center.
  • Asst with holiday and special programs.
  • Driving is an essential function of this role.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervision of volunteers.

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Preferred Associates Degree in Human Services Field. 1-3 years of experience in a social service and/or not-for-profit environment is preferred.

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.

  • Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
  • Basic computer skills with ability to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Word and Excel skills, and the ability to access data systems via a web-based system.
  • Administrative skills to include utilization of standard office equipment, data entry, 10-key, attention to details and filing.
  • Good communication skills both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters
  • Attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Strong independent judgement.

Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.
