Job description

Job Summary:

 

Zymo Research is looking for a dynamic individual to join our Microbiomics team. This is an exciting opportunity to explore the impact of cutting-edge methods, technologies, and applications in molecular microbiology, genetic engineering, and recombinant gene design and expression.

Working side by side with some of the most talented people in biotechnology, the successful applicant will participate in semi-independent product research and development efforts. Interns will play a key role as members of project teams in research, development, and manufacturing that complement their college curricula with relevant hands-on experience. 

The ideal candidate should be a self-motivated learner, an effective team player, and possess a strong interest in learning about molecular biology and experimental design. The successful candidate should also be detail-oriented and have experience in basic molecular biology laboratory techniques. Candidates with hands-on laboratory or research experience are preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

Product Development

  • Assist the Principal Investigator with research methods, experiments, data collection and data interpretation.
  • Execute laboratory experiments according to established protocols and mentor guidance, maintain accurate records, and report experimental results and observations to project supervisors.
  • Carry out high-level, complex research activities. 
  • Ensure products maintain consistent performance.

Developing and Writing Project Protocols

  • Maintaining quality control measurements.
  • Filing and collating project documentation including ZRC Laboratory Notebook and quality control reports.

 

Education and Experience:

 

  • To be eligible for this position, you must have completed your sophomore year at an accredited college or university
  • Education in Biology or Chemistry
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA for consideration 
  • Comfortable with lab research and lab surroundings
  • Ability to work 15-20hrs/week

Compensation, Benefits, and Perks:                                 

The estimated base compensation range for this position is $20 the hour at the time of posting.
